Hi! I intend to improve this article by adding images. I will also mention specific examples of chemistry in agriculture such as ammonia in fertilizer. Possible Edits

In the future, I would like to make edits to the article focusing on the disadvantages of the Haber-Bosch process and some of the concerns that surround GMOs, especially on whether the risks outweigh the benefits in their case. Jojo0577 (talk) 02:24, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Additions Coming Soon

Hello! I have recently been conducting some research into Agricultural Chemistry and have some additions to add to the current article. Right now, my additions mainly focus on GMO's and the adverse effects of pesticides, though, I may have other contributions to make in the future about other topics in AgChem as well. Final Edits

I have provided all the contributions I believe I will be making at this time. As a summary, I provided the last paragraph for the Advantages and Disadvantages section (source 2), the last three paragraphs for the Soil Chemistry section (source 6), the last sentence of the Pesticides section (source 10), the second paragraph of the Plant Biochemistry section (source 12), and the last paragraph for that section as well (source 13). In my view vermicomposting isn't a chemistry subject. Perhaps it would be better placed in one of the agricultural pages. Three paragraphs of detail in such an overarching subject seem too much, even if it were to fit. Therefore I suggest this be moved to somewhere more suitable. Proposed outline for refurbished article

The article would benefit from a plan or an outline. Here is a list (directly quoted) of the scope of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. "Author Guidelines". These topics might be a good start for organizing this article.

• Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry (...crop protection, nanotechnology, natural toxins, fate and biotransformation of residues), elucidate mechanisms of action of agrochemicals... mechanisms of plant-plant, plant-fungal and plant-insect interactions ... water quality/treatment, agricultural waste, and energy- related issues....)
  • This heading would cover fertilizers, pesticides, Wikipedia lacks an article on ag run-off.
• Bioactive Constituents, Metabolites, and Functions (bioactive constituents, phytonutrients, and nutraceuticals in foods, their human and animal metabolism, and their mechanisms of biological function (traditional medicines and herbal remedies are outside the scope)...)
  • Natural products chemistry, in part
• Biofuels and Biobased Materials.
  • Wikipedia has well developed article on biofuels but biomaterials is about implants and such, not ag-derived materials
• Biotechnology and Biological Transformations (...crop improvement, nutraceuticals, bioenergy, transgenic plants, phytoremediation), microbial and insect biotechnology (metabolic engineering and synthetic/systems biology of bacteria, fungi, insects, yeasts and algae in the context of fermentation/bioproduction, biocatalysis, bioremediation, biodegradation), food and flavor biotechnology )
  • GMO would be part of this, fermentative routes to chemicals.

Also, I suspect that "Analytical Methods" will be covered separately since we have articles on most analytical techniques. So that leaves 7 sections. I propose to implement this outline unless others chime in, which would be very welcome. Link to Omics to see the spectrum of science relevant here. Particularly proteomics as protein (nutrition) guides much of agriculture. It wasn’t that long ago the Justus von Liebig and Eben Horsford began to study the nitrogen containing hydrocarbons that literally make the chain of life.
