The article should specify wether the girl was an actual child or just a teenager below the UK's age of consent. How old was she at the time of the alledged events.

Infobox - the guy's currently a free agent - am I allowed to put that on his Infobox or not?[edit]

The infobox follows the standard convention for footballers (and I think most sportspeople). If there's an end date on a player's time at a club (which there is for Sunderland) the player has left that club; if there's no end date (it says for example 2013–) then the players is still at the club. So the infobox as is states that he left Sunderland in 2016 (which he did). There's no need to put 'free agent' (particularly as it's not clear if he is - would he sign for a club if they offered him a deal tomorrow? I don't really know). Former professional[edit]

Given that he will (almost certainly) be going to prison was child sex offences, I would say that its safe to say that he is now a "former professional football player". No professional club would ever hire a convicted sex offender. Could he even play professionally when on the sex offenders register?

I wouldn't add "former" just yet, as Marlon King is also a convicted sex offender (amongst other things) who is on the sex offenders register and has been hired by other clubs following his release from prison. But its not original research if I have a source! The Guardian have just published an article above this very question: Ched Evans case suggests Adam Johnson will not play again. To quote the article "Adam Johnson's conviction for grooming and sexual activity with a child almost certainly means he will never play professional football again." and "the experience of Ched Evans suggests Johnson will struggle to find a team in the face of public disapproval". <reduce indent> I'd suggest that the best option here is to remove the word 'professional' from the intro - given that he's not currently earning from the game I think we can do that, but it's also not passing judgement on what might happen. Need to restore England appearances and goals[edit]

His goals and appearances have not been revoked. It is the honour of the cap that has been taken away (if that is actually the case). 'Paedophile'[edit]

The opening paragraph states as fact that Johnson is a convicted 'paedophile.' Is there any proof he is actually a paedophile? Where are the sources to state that his predominant sexual interest is in pre-pubescent children, because there are none, and he did not groom or sexually assault a pre-pubescent child. Can I suggest changing this phrase to the much more appropriate 'sex offender'?

Age of consent[edit]

The part about the sex crime should specify it is illegal to have intercourse when of the partners is below the age of consent. As this latter is 14 in my country I found the paragraph quite odd. New court post-sentencing issues[edit]

A couple of issues to clear-up post sentencing. Firstly, his "alleged" adultery and sexual desire was even mentioned as fact by the judge in his summing up: "at a time when you were engaged in frequent sexual intercourse with multiple partners" Telegraph Guardian BBC News. Also in his summing-up the judge said Johnson had been hunting out women for sex from the time he joined Manchester City. The section hence re his personal life relating to the break up of his relationship with girlfriend needs the word "alleged" removed. Secondly, if even the BBC are reporting that police found extreme pornography involving animals on Johnson's laptop during their investigation, this needs adding. The judge states in court that Johnson is an adulterer, but what we state in the article is that he allegedly confessed to Ms Flounders. The claim is that he confessed. Anyway, soon the full court report of this case will become available to the public, so we can known exactly what was said in court. Could we change:

"Adam Johnson (born 14 July 1987) is an English footballer who plays as a winger."

to

"Adam Johnson (born 14 July 1987) is a convicted sexual offender and an English footballer who played as a winger."
