Barony[edit]

How did the Barony become extinct in the C19th yet the Baronetcy did not? Does anyone have any ideas...I presume the Barony had to pass to heirs of the body--Couter-revolutionary 18:31, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems the 3rd Baronet was a younger brother of the 2nd baronet und 1st baron. If the remainder of the barony was only for male heirs of the body of the 1st Baron, the 3rd baronet couldn't succeed him. If further the remainder of the baronetcy was for male heirs of the body of the 1st baronet, both the 2nd and the 3rd baronet (and their descendants) could succeed their father in the baronetcy.
