Situation[edit]

I dont thonk the situation is Guinea is clear. Can we follow the constitution until a definate report has come to light!. Enlil Ninlil (talk) 12:11, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Somparé did not automatically become acting President upon Conté's death. As you can see in the article, he asked the President of the Supreme Court to declare a vacancy and to apply the constitution—although that would ordinarily be a mere formality, since Conté was obviously dead and Somparé was obviously his constitutional successor, the Supreme Court did not declare a vacancy in the few hours that passed prior to the coup, and therefore there was simply no one legally acting as President during that period.
