Relationship of 763d Squadrons[edit]

This article was moved from 763d Bombardment Squadron without adding a source for the 763d Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron being related to that unit. The 1988 date given for its activation as an expeditionary unit is undoubtedly incorrect. The fact that the units share a number makes this possible, but not certain, and does not address the fact that there is a 763d Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron as well (with a separate article). While all these units may be the same, that is one possibility, but not the only one. Lacking a WP:RS, I would propose returning this article to its previous location and leaving the article on the refueling unit as a stub. --Lineagegeek (talk) 15:21, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Taking a closer look at the unit to which both the 763d Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron and 763d Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron were assigned, it seems highly likely that both are provisional units with no antecedents, but were numbered according to the procedure in AFPD 38-5, para. A1.2.2.6. --Lineagegeek (talk) 20:09, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Lineagegeek: In response to your move request, I moved this page to 763rd Bombardment Squadron. I moved it to 763rd, not 763d, per MOS:ORDINAL and WT:Manual_of_Style/Dates_and_numbers/Archive_158#MOS:ORDINAL. --Ahecht (TALK
