Original and current official names

We should cover prominently (i.e. IMO in the lead section) the popular, current official, and Civil-War names of the unit. My impression is that the memorial's name includes a modern name, different from what Mass. called it when they recruited for it. IMO it don't much matter which is the article title (esp'ly in view of the Rdr capability).
Here are the current title and the Rdrs to it (reordered to first distinguish redirected names that IMO obviously should not be considered title candidates, and then for clarity as to which combinations of the words are not (presently) Rdrs (nor the title):

If no one does it first, i intend to expand this talk-contrib by adding more data from my google search on

"54th massachusetts" site:mil

since military historians pay attention to standards, and probably obsolete standards, for military-unit names.
(Who remembers when there were only 6 TLDs? - wow, i wasn't sure of coming up with more than three or four for a moment, but com, org, gov, net, edu, and the one that maybe a lot of us never noticed: .mil for US military use -- maybe NATO too?)
