First of all lets all be a little civil. When I first posted this article (which still is a very long way to be complete) I didn't put up a logo. Frankly, I didn't really see the need for one. Introductory Paragraph

Really like the intro., but can we re-word this sentence to make it sound more objective:

"...though games are still intense no matter what the standings indicate."

Player Reactions

I'm concerned with the section of this page devoted to Player Reactions. In the interest of avoiding an edit war with a user who has made many additions to this section, I'm creating this talk page item.

My first concern is overarching: nearly all of the entries are from incidents from 2016 or later, with many of those from 2021 or later. Is this really a good representation of the history of the long rivalry between the two teams? Are all of these incidents really noteworthy? Several paragraphs are devoted to social media interactions between players, which in the NFL are commonplace and, generally, not notable. I don't think they rise to the level of prominence that merits inclusion in this page.

My second concern is the tone and accuracy of these entries. Several of these entries are simply not accurate: for instance, there is no source that Deebo Samuel was knocked unconscious in the hit described in the paragraph starting "Seeking Retribution..." The linked video does not appear to show this, and there is no other source. An earlier version described Fred Warner punching Matthew Stafford - this also never occurred, and no source ever claimed that it did. The current version states "as the second quarter began; without warning, 49ers linebacker Fred Warner knocked Rams' quarterback Matthew Stafford to the ground with an illegal hit as he was walking to the sidelines." This is both factually inaccurate and oddly phrased (why the semi-colon? What does "without warning" contribute to this sentence?). Further, video of the incident does not show the described events occurring:

The collision occurred while play was still live. Matthew Stafford was not "walking towards the sidelines," but rather following the play. Nothing in the video shows any "illegal hit," as Warner appears to be running towards the football. In short, this is an inaccurate statement, and the author of the paragraph has shown resistance to changing it. If it is absolutely vital to include a paragraph about this incident (which I do not believe it is, since collisions between players, even genuinely illegal ones, happen frequently in the NFL), it must acknowledge these facts. The source which is cited describes the incident inaccurately - making it a poor source. Fred Warner may have apologized, but this does not change the objective facts of the actual events.

I have been accused of bias and vandalism for editing this section, which I do not believe are reasonable assessments. I am concerned that the author of this section is unreasonably committed to preserving this section, even though they do not contribute to a well-rounded article.
