Mouse model of SHANK3 deletion[edit]

In Nature, published 28-Apr-2011 (472, 437-442), a mouse model of SHANK3 deletion is described ("Shank3 mutant mice display autistic-like behaviours and striatal dysfunction"). These mice show self-injurious repetitive grooming and deficits in social interaction. Terminology[edit]

Under Etiology, Asperger's syndrome is stated to be a form of high functioning autism. There is no citation for this. It implies all Asperger's sufferers are high functioning, which is false.
