Information to add to this article: what exactly were the mother, father, and daughter from Belgorod doing on the Kerch bridge? Had they traveled from their home to Crimea as tourists, as Vladimir Putin had encouraged Russian civilians to do (even though it is in the midst of a war zone)? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 14:30, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with 2022 explosion?[edit]

Surprised to see a separate article. The bridge will be hit again I expect, it seems slightly ridiculous to have articles dedicated to each explosion rather than to the structure they target. Am I missing something? Cheers Thelisteninghand (talk) 15:17, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it's somewhat recentist to have an article on each explosion. Would support a merge but not sure of the page title: Crimean Bridge explosions (seems vague, but more or less what we have now) or Crimean Bridge explosions during the Russian invasion of Ukraine (more specific, but lengthy). 12 August 2023[edit]

Seems like a rename to 2023 Crimean Bridge explosions (currently a redirect here) will be needed. Currently WP:RS such as Kyiv Independent summarise Russian media + Russian-occupation administrative head of Crimea + residents talking about multiple explosions. So that would match an expanded topic. Whether or not the bridge was damaged yesterday doesn't yet seem to have been reported. Boud (talk) 01:52, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is mentioned in the main article on the Crimean Bridge as an 'attempt'. In the long run I think these events should all be merged into a single article. Yesterday's could certainly be called an 'attack' but it may not be a "Crimean Bridge explosion". Needs a more military-minded title in the future in my opinion. @Boud: I'd support your proposal immediately. We cannot really leave out yesterday's attack just because the title says July. I'd go ahead and move and create a section for it. @GnocchiFan: That long title is the one but I'm sure there is a 'proper' way of saying that somehow. Support We have to include the August events in this article but I'm uncertain whether 'attacks' is acceptable. I don't have a problem with it personally, but I think Ukraine is not admitting responsibility. Kinda grey area, but this article needs updating so this is the way ahead for now. Comment. I'm of the opinion that attacks don't need dedicated articles and should be merged into the "Incidents" section of the main article. Yes, the attacks enjoyed significant media coverage, and editors may be tempted to add plenty of minor detail.
