The CW[edit]

Since beginning this tv season that cw will only air 3 hours during daytime shouldn’t we put a note regarding it instead of putting it on the schedule since with cw only airing on 1 day and only 3 hours out of that day and only 1 programming block that would be the best thing we should do wouldn’t you agree? Hoopstercat (talk) 19:00, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No. I reverted your edit. It offers programming so it must be included, and when the time comes each show will be replacing the "One Magnificent Morning" legend. — MrE (talk) 21:53, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree; keep the CW on the schedule and do we really need the Saturday note that specifies when NBC News: Kids Edition airs?? Honestly, who cares? Also if the CBS Weekend News is preempted by Football, it should still be on the schedule. Thematrix92498 (talk) 03:40, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with the nbc news kids edition but we may consider putting cbs evening news on there but we will have to make a few other changes if we do that Hoopstercat (talk) 21:43, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Schedule colors[edit]

Since most schedules are being filled with color I recommend putting orange for local programming and brown in for local and/or sports programming wouldn’t you guys agree? Hoopstercat (talk) 21:13, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's OK the way it is now. What matters with the highlighting are the shows. Local/syndicated programming is not relevant to this schedule so there's no need to add more colors for now. — MrE (talk) 22:18, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hours on schedule[edit]

I know we talked a bit about this last year but should we add the 6 an hour on the weekends schedule and leave it on weekdays(due to early today airing at 6:30 am et) since it makes more sense to do so based on how dayparting works on weekends Hoopstercat (talk) 21:36, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Schedule spilt[edit]

Since we did a spilt for late night and overnight should we spilt the daytime schedule too to morning and afternoon so the schedule won’t be nearly as long and also some networks (like fox and CW don’t air programming all day (morning and afternoon combined)) lmk on what you think Hoopstercat (talk) 00:33, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Hoopstercat I understand why we are splitting the late night schedule because it is somewhat confusing with some programs airing before midnight and others after. However, the daytime schedule should stay as one page. I think we need to merge morning and afternoon back again. The issue is that the networks program primetime, daytime, and late night. We need to keep the schedules consistent with those categories. Again, I understand splitting late night because the day changes, but since the day doesn't change at noon, we should keep daytime as one schedule. Combining afternoon and morning also makes it easier for users to access previous schedules at the bottom of the page. Sure, Fox and The CW don't air weekday programming, but they do on the weekends and we have separate sections for Saturday and Sunday. So Fox and The CW's lack of weekday programming shouldn't be an issue. Thematrix92498 (talk) 21:16, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well the problem really is that Fox and/or CW don’t air programming all day (morning and afternoon) so with it spilt we can remove parts of the schedule (CW is not needed in the afternoon schedule anymore due to reduced daytime hours) plus Fox’s Saturday morning programming is syndicated programming outside of sports pre game shows and thus not needed to be included if we combine the schedules it will require more unnecessary blocks plus the redirect links with prior seasons for morning and afternoon redirect back over to daytime anyway Hoopstercat (talk) 19:01, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Another thing is the morning schedule won’t have many changes to it but afternoon will (mostly on weekends due to sports programming) so morning schedule can stay put all year without having to make changes since that is what takes up most of the space and creates a bigger mess when we add more rows (see 2020-21 and compare it to past schedules to see) Hoopstercat (talk) 19:06, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why can’t we just add in the necessary information for each network based on the day? Monday-Friday the schedule is the same all day, every day for the big three. Saturday and Sunday are more complicated, but is there really that big of a difference between morning and afternoon programming? Thematrix92498 (talk) 00:38, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Now that I look at it, I see what you are saying. Saturday and Sunday afternoon are significantly different due to the sports programming and lack of E/I and news programs which are present in the morning. I suggest this - since you’ve already aligned the morning schedule with the overnight schedule, why don’t we combine overnight and morning and just call it “morning.” That way, we have a schedule for primetime (8-11PM), late-night (11PM-2AM), morning (2AM-12PM, and afternoon (12PM-8PM). What do you think? Thematrix92498 (talk) 00:45, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We can do that but 1 thing is for weekends we start at 6 am instead of 2 am because no network programming is presented on weekends during overnight hours that’s the only difference between overnight and morning Hoopstercat (talk) 13:02, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The only problem if we do that is that the schedule would be so long (2am-12 pm is 10 hours) and afternoon would be 12-8pm (which is 8 hours or 1/3 of the whole day) meaning that the schedules would need to be broken up a bit more to at least nearly match the length of the entire schedule so maybe evening might be a schedule since it would include 5-8 pm and afternoon to be 12-5 pm? Hoopstercat (talk) 17:05, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In that case, just leave it all the way it is. A 5pm-8pm schedule is pointless since only a half hour of that entire stretch is programmed by the networks. Thematrix92498 (talk) 02:54, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I would agree on that since 6:30 pm et is the only hour network programs air on weekdays however weekends is a different story Hoopstercat (talk) 15:06, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't 5pm-8pm on weekends also mostly sports? In that case, we can still leave the schedule as is. There's also a lot of sports programming that runs past 5pm, so the scheduling would have to be awkwardly broken up. As for the 7pm hour - only on Sundays is it officially listed as prime access, weekdays it's still afternoon, so that can stay as well. Thematrix92498 (talk) 00:53, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

1 thing I would put up to consider is should we put the 7 pm et hour (prime time access hour) to the primetime schedule instead in the afternoon schedule? Hoopstercat (talk) 22:48, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok now I get you on all that many sports do go beyond 5 pm et, 6 pm et or later is better for outside of fall but 7 pm et is when most sports cut off the schedule as with prime access I thought the most likely day I would is Saturday since many sports happen in that hour are also in primetime like Saturday night football, Fox CFB and even TNF pre game show all of which is relevant to primetime but it airs outside of primetime Hoopstercat (talk) 02:34, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to add the 7pm hour to Saturday on the primetime schedule, that’s fine, but I don’t moderate or edit the primetime schedule. There are many more editors curating that schedule and they tend to be strict about what goes on there. Feel free to give a shot though. Thematrix92498 (talk) 16:42, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There's not way the 7 p.m. hour would be added to the primetime on Saturdays, it's not part of it and it was mentioned to you before. Also, I believe the split of daytime was unnecessary as it follows the same rules, I don't see why it was made in the first place. — MrE (talk) 00:33, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The daytime schedule spilt was the morning part of the schedule is not always changing since no sports is on there and sports is always on in the afternoon plus networks like Fox and The CW don’t air all day so that’s why the afternoon schedule is limited to 4 networks instead of 5 so that’s the reason Hoopstercat (talk) 01:30, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Daytime schedule recombination[edit]

This will be a discussion about what to do with the 2021-22 United States network television schedule (morning and afternoon) lineups.
