Numbers[edit]

What do the numbers in brackets in #List of participating nations mean? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:28, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MSGJ: It indicates the total number of participants for each nations. Abishe (talk) 08:00, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, please explain this in the article — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:03, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Did western media cover this event?[edit]

I (here in Canada) had no idea this event existed, even though apparently over 100 Canadians participated. This seems bigger than the summer Olympic games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.74.108.212 (talk) 02:28, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure with that whether the media in Western region covered this event but the event has been under scanner for the possibility of the spreading of coronavirus according to some sources. Abishe (talk) 06:13, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer: Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs) 14:31, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

Immediate Failures[edit]

  • It is a long way from meeting any one of the six good article criteria -
  • It contains copyright infringements -
  • It has, or needs, cleanup banners that are unquestionably still valid. These include{{cleanup}}, {{POV}}, {{unreferenced}} or large numbers of {{citation needed}}, {{clarify}}, or similar tags. (See also {{QF-tags}}). -
  • It is not stable due to edit warring on the page. -

Lede[edit]

General[edit]

  • I know this has been waiting a long time, but this isn't a suitable GA at the present moment. Here's a series of things that caused me to not want the article to go on hold, and fail right out.

Minor:

  1. WP:BOLDAVOID in lede
  2. retail stores were newly opened - opened for the event, newly is present tense.
  3. What's a "chinese sturgeon"?
  4. .[31][32][33][34] - WP:CITEKILL.
  5. Why are quotes in italics?
  6. It was reported that 109 nations - by whom? There's clearly 110 from the full list below, which was overkill too.

Major:

  1. Most of the info in the lede should be in the body.
  2. Random external links (suitable for WP:LINKROT) in the results section
  3. No commentary on the medals/results
  4. Very short sections such as bidding, marketing and venues need expansion
  5. The WP:WEIGHT seems massively off. Why are we drawing attention to one venue over others, or one record being beaten?
  6. The list of venues seems a bit long, needs signifcant commentary as to what's going on/where it's sourced to.
  7. Article is need of a copyedit, as some things make zero sense when read.

GA Review[edit]

Review meta comments[edit]

  • I'll begin the review as soon as I can! If you fancy returning the favour, I have a list of nominations for review at WP:GAN and WP:FAC, respectively. I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these if you get time. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:31, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm sorry for failing this one so quickly, but there just isn't enough here (or even close to) for me to believe this will meet the WP:BROAD criteria. I've left some comments above, but this would need a lot more for it to have a successful nomination in the future. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:45, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

USA "lying" about its number of participants?[edit]

Hi Leopodstanicky. This is the talk page of the article if you'd like to discuss anything. You can edit this page with your comments instead of inserting your comments into the article or using edit summaries. I think this is getting complex enough that we should have this talk page discussion. In response to your latest edit summary...

check video of US team at intro ceremony - 7 * 17 + 2 - and of course not all there, they lie about numbers to cover covid suspicion clear seeing the awful performance finishing at 35 place?

I'd say just be careful of original research. Wikipedia editors shouldn't really be loading videos and counting people and then putting that into articles. We need a reliable source such as a newspaper, book, or in this case the official games website in order to add/change information in articles. Hope this helps. –Novem Linguae (talk) 20:52, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

leo here - I studied this for a long time - one American who wanted to stay anonymous - wrote - our media didn´t cover the event which is strange - then - US team disastrous results - not a single gold placed the mightiest army in the universe behind poor Namibia and as it was really very low, even behind camel Tunisia which is not just shame but a proof that something was just not right there - original numbers here were 278 of whole US expedition - ie full Boeing 747 - among them 179 sportsmen
- it is also striking that despite I provided evidence - counting from video - you in fact not thanked but hushed me for that - this is really a typical scam practice and wiki is thus - also due to your stance - now an untrustworthy source. btw WHERE is the source for that ridiculous and apparently false 59? of course - nowhere, poor wiki — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leopodstanicky (talkcontribs) 07:48, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There's 3 sources linked at the top of the table, although I think the one that had the 59 number died and was archived incorrectly. Got any sources for one American who wanted to stay anonymous - wrote - our media didn´t cover the event which is strange? A link to a reliable newspaper that mentions this would be the first step to getting it added. Sorry, counting people on YouTube seems like clear original research to me, which is not allowed. –Novem Linguae (talk) 09:54, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

leo here - as for that American - he was clearly afraid and therefore - he said - hid his IP - and I respect his concerns vis-a-vis the ones who have butter on head so didn´t try to follow on him - let´s take it the other way round - there was global silence ordered apparently from one centre regarding ANY notion that this event ever happened - now this is not suspicous - it is the proof - it is no chance than when I tried to get ANY response from ANYBODY all I got back was silence or at the best some ridicule ridiculing from THE SUN. Since this event happened in Wuhan and on the outbreak of covid, it is clear that there WAS a global ban - in Israel controlled world ie "The West " on information about it, not even mentioning The US participation of course. Wuhan is 1/150th of CHina in terms of population. Based on the fact that covid originated here at time of games tell me it was a chance please. At the time US army was here in numbers. And Italian sportsmen were hit hardest. Was it possible to draw any line between US team and covid? Or better - who wrote in here that ridiculous "conspiration theory section" - who claims he has the right to state what is conspiracy and why? We all know that this "conspiration theories" is a program in Mossad controlled world - it is everywhere like pest. Btw this is not first case I see wiki complicit with illegal or outright criminal activities - there are much more serious cases of it I can document very easily quoting ... wiki. Is wiki free? This sounds like a joke doesn´t it. Don´t respond to my comment as it will bring no real quality or information. counting myself is not allowed? oh whaly whaly — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leopodstanicky (talkcontribs) 13:29, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

as for that American - he was clearly afraid and therefore - he said - hid his IP. We don't need their IP. We just need a newspaper that published a story about it. Wikipedia is a WP:TERTIARY source. We let reliable sources do the investigating for us, then we summarize what the reliable sources say. –Novem Linguae (talk) 13:47, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ok I will give you example of corrupt wiki - mr. Lučanský - has nothing to do with this event - wiki claims - committed suicide - a Slovak wiki claims that is. Do you know what is the problem? That it claimed that even before a investigation committee was set up. How can wiki say that when Slovak police didn´t even start investigation? When I tried to point at it, was immediately reverted. I know only one thing - that both problems have the same nominative. Here you yourself said that there is no back up for 59 number. Yet you stick to this number you know is wrong. How did I find that wrong number just now ? Wanted to show a friend and was caught by surprise - wow, the right number that was there FOR YEARS suddenly gone. Frankly, I don´t trust wiki anymore. And say everybody do the same.
"although I think the one that had the 59 number died and was archived incorrectly" - you can count ppl walking Wuhan Stadium self - 17 * 7 = 119 +2 = 121 - I don´t say it is correct numer of US participants - it is only members you can see on tarmac yourself Leopodstanicky (talk) 16:14, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's hard to trust what you're saying when you have no sources that follow our policies, so I am just trying to keep the historical article text. However wow, the right number that was there FOR YEARS suddenly gone is a much better argument. See, I can check that. Our pages have an edit history. Ok, after like 20 minutes of investigating, I have this.
De Boni 2007, are you around? Can you explain your edit a bit? Abishe, thoughts on this? And do either of you have a link to a source for # of participants by country that isn't a dead URL? The source given at the top of the table that probably had this info appears to be a dead URL that was improperly archived. Thanks. –Novem Linguae (talk) 20:14, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. See, I don´t care for the number of participants - I´ll explain - say, Egypt, Why should I care for its number? I don´t. What I am after is this - there were some number of countries, Yet, wiki itself in that ridiculous "conspiration theories" paragraph is pointing to USA. Question - why USA? Why not Bangladesh? Or Hungary? See? it is not the number what is the problem here. It is USA itself. Then I analyzed the number compared to factors like - by far biggest army in the world, the wealthiest, best trained, best trainers, poor results and STRUCTURE of those - only three teams - wrestling, basketball and golf showing that these teams were sound and probably didn´t know other members of expedition who were either not sportsmen, not the best sportsmen for reasons of spying, infected sportsmen or outright CIA agents posing as sportsmen. How can we ignore CIA games when it is playing those worldwide and in Wuhan predominantly? 35th place behind Czechia, at least in front of its slave, Slovakia. U.S. delegation arrives in Wuhan for Military World Games - Xinhua | English.news.cn (xinhuanet.com)
WUHAN, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- A group of 17 athletes from the U.S. Armed Forces has arrived at the airport in the central Chinese city of Wuhan for the up-coming 2019 Military World Games here on Monday midnight.
About 300 athletes from the United States are expected to arrive in the next 2 days.
leo - is this sufficient evidence - now we just need to find which full 747 flew those agents in Leopodstanicky (talk) 09:41, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
would be interesting to find out who is that cheater with 59 and especially on whose commands he was acting, because this was a military decoy operation at times when dust "settled down" Leopodstanicky (talk) 09:51, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
btw isn´t that striking that out of tens of nations just US one was changed in number - of course to lower, much lower and not higher - or much higher which would be ever crazier that this - the number 59 itself is a proof of cheating by itself when using number 9 - this number symbolises big number - so it was used by cheater slave Leopodstanicky (talk) 11:44, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
