Purpose of the Donate picture in Nepal section?[edit]
In the Nepal section there's currently a picture that seems to show a Donate poster. Thing is, with the caption "Donate to flood victims of Nepal, 2017", I'm not sure if someone's indirectly using Wikipedia to "advertise" to get people to donate, or if it's actually documenting a donation poster that was circulated around. If it's the latter, that's fine, but if it's the former, it probably isn't. What's the intended purpose of that picture? -- numbermaniac (talk) 07:56, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The image with "Helicopter deployed by Indian Air Force for rescue in flooded regions of Gujarat" caption is of a helicopter with the French Air Force's roundel and the French flag. Bowen159 (talk) 03:10, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The image is correct. The image is from the Indian Air Force and it does say "Indian Air Force" on the side of the helicopter. It is just that the colours are a bit off — what you are seeing as red is actually orange and what you are seeing as blue is actually green. in the the first paragraph it says 2000 people die on average each year. I believe it means in total over the past 2 decades because the article later states that this years flood was far worse with nearly 1288 deaths, I would edit but I don't have actual figures — Preceding unsigned comment added by Freshman5000 (talk • contribs) 05:37, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The cited source says, "In a particularly severe season of storms and flooding around the world, the devastation in South Asia has been among the worst anywhere. The rains aren’t over yet, and already in India, Nepal and Bangladesh, more than 1,200 people have lost their lives. Sadly, this happens every year. Deadly flooding is part of the landscape in South Asia, and over the past two decades an average of around 2,000 people have died each year, according to the International Disaster Database in Belgium." A little hard to square this with other sources saying this year is worse than usual. Perhaps flooding is worse but death toll is average (average being awful).
