Removing leaders from the article[edit]

The section headline literally speaks of "Possible Participating leaders". To exclude Renzi of Italy is nonsense, because one doesn't know how long Renzi will stay on, and/or if he goes for another term. Also, Park of the Republic of Korea is in a pickle (see: Impeachment process against President Park Geun-hye, yet possibly able to attend. Trump of the US is not sworn in yet, however, it is higly likely he shall attend. Rutte of The Netherlands may not be there because of elections in March in that same country (see: Dutch general election, 2017), but he might remain in position after those elections, so possibly able to attend, etc.

Hollande of France is the only exclusion I can see as justified, because he has forfeited a second term, and as such he can not be re-elected (see: French presidential election, 2017). --217.120.219.67 (talk) 17:19, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Protests[edit]

The summit will take place in the midst of one of the strongholds if not the centre of the German radical left (not Hamburg as such but this specific neighbourhood). This inept choice of venue has raised concern even among rather moderate voices. Police expect 100.000 protesters, 10.000 of them potentially violent. There are a number of local initiatives criticizing the summit, from radical left to right-leaning conservative. An organisation of students together with a teacher's and professor's union is trying to stop the summit being held in Hamburg altogether by collecting signatures to enforce a referendum. Article neutrality[edit]

Can we consider the Protests section of this article truly neutral? Neutral reporting on the protestors' actions is necessary, but the very first sentence is loaded with the word "propaganda", and subsequent phrases like "attempted to storm into..." and "militants... went uncontrolled" don't seem especially encyclopaedic. The four young men from Germany and the defendant from France were among roughly 220 people who set fire to cars and buildings on Hamburg's Elbchaussee street, while also smashing several windows and smearing houses with paint. Violence erupted over three nights in July 2017, with dozens of buildings damaged, stores looted and vehicles set on fire. Around 200 police officers were injured in skirmishes with groups of demonstrators who roamed the streets dressed in dark clothing and wearing face masks to obscure their identities. per Deutsche Welle. I agree, this is not written in a neutral language. The section also focuses on acts of violence/destruction of property, while only briefly mentioning that there were 76.000 people protesting peacefully against the summit.
