"Similar Attacks"[edit]

Someone posted the Cuban attack on the Moncada barracks as a similar attack. A baseless point, and one which can only glorify this attack. The Moncada attack was Castro's first test of mettle (outside of the ill-fated invasion of the Dominican Republic); one which saw him captured, and rise to the status of a hero through his speech of "History will Absolve Me" in his trial. When he was pardoned, he fled to Mexico and planned his invasion and subsequently victorious revolution in Cuba.

By all narratives this has no comparison with this attack. By the narrative of the Wiki, the Taliban calls it a reprisal. By the narrative of the media, it is a strategic attack, but one part of a 16 year long war. This has nothing to do with the origin-myth element of the Moncada barracks; also, tactically, it was a successful attack, while the Moncada barracks was a failure.
