Whoa, whoa, whoa - really? Both pages are already very, very long. I'm all for linking to each other, etc., but what's wrong with keeping them as separate subpages? They are, after all, for separate countries and are each released through the relevant vice-regal office. I agree that the way these are organised could use some work, though - how a main article here detailing the overall context, maybe some of the more notable awards, and then separate ones for each country? Merge; It's the same honours list in 16 different realms (and 18 nations) which have a separate Crown and a shared monarchy. If you choose divide then application of the same logic when applied to all realms creates Up to 18 lists twice a year (New Year Honours as well) every year. (16 Commonwealth Realms and the Cook Islands and Tuvalu which are separate nations within the Realm of New Zealand).
If you Merge, after 200 years you have 400 pages. If you Separate, after 200 years you more than (okay, not every commonwealth realm issues lists twice a year so 20-22 lists a year gives you) more than 4,000 lists. View this as a manageability and usability issue over 200 years. That time scale isn't unrealistic given that Birthday Honours started in 1908 and New Year Honours in 1890.
Reservations; I'm not sure merging them would be a good idea, the Australian Honours List's (Australia Day and Queen's Birthday) are issued by the Governor General of Australia and not the British Government. The Kiwi Queen's Birthday list should be with the British because it is rather small but the Australian list is not.Nford24 (Want to have a chat?) 10:50, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't make sense because you're stated (quite rightly) that appointments are made by each different realm with a different head of state however on the basis of size New Zealand (which is a separate realm to the UK) should be publised with the UK contradicting your original point. ---- Karl Stephens (talk) 01:33, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
