Google Earth[edit]

Thanks Craig Steele (a fellow Glaswegian) for directing me to this page. As a Google Earth and cycling enthusiast, I decided (while watching the Tour de France) to see if I could improve the use of Google Earth in obtaining information about a cycle race, so I have mapped the route and stages of the 2011 Vuelta a Espana, using the official site, and, most importantly, added "helicopter rides" to offer users a more enjoyable experience.

I have made this publicly available for free download on my website (arcadiaservices.nl/cycling), and I would like to share this information with Wikipedia users who link to this page. This is not some grand commercial transaction and I know that search engine crawlers will not pick up the link. I just want people who are interested in the Vuelta to enjoy my work, and justify all my effort! Please note that if my link does not conform to the Wikipedia guidelines, then neither does the official Vuelta website ( http://www.lavuelta.com)

I posted the remarks above 2 hours ago. As I know that these pages are being monitored(!) I would be interested if anybody wishes to respond, and in particular explain why Wikipedia readers can be offered useful information at the official Vuelta site, but not on mine. Unless this can be logically explained, I will continue to insert the external link to my website. Thanks. Gilchristr (talk) 17:13, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
