cyrillic[edit]

You have posted a picture of the Russian version of the Cyrillic, which is not used in the EU (Bulgaria). Some of those letters don't presist in the Bulgarian cyrillic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.125.176.79 (talk) 16:13, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copied from BG m of EU article[edit]

The date is not firmly set. There's a clause (Article 39(1) of the Accession Protocol) in the Accession Treaty of Bulgaria and Romania that states possible postponement of the joining date to 1 January 2008. --cassini83 00:48, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copied from Accession of ROM to EU article[edit]

        • Does anybody know if Romania (and Bulgaria) will join the EU on 7 January at 00:00 LOCAL TIME (which is actually 23:00 on 6 January Brussels time) -- or is the accession time at 00:00 Brussels time?!****

Also, the following the link in the "Public Opinion" section says that the Romanian population only has a 45% approval rate of accession, while the Wikipedia article states the number as 95%. Is there any cited reason for this discrepancy? If not, I'll change it to 45% in a few days, because that's what the source says. --Nichenbach 02:34, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The linked article is incorrect - the 45% figure refers to European popular (EU citizens) support for Romania's accession. The 70% figure refers to Romanian citizens support for EU accession Gallup Romania Poll - in romanian -- Ciprian.Enache 22:49, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone else find this sentence: "Romania is a country with consolidated democratic systems, rule of law, respect for human rights and freedom of expression and an economy functioning according to the free market principles." in thie History section to be a bit out of place and/or more opinion than fact? It just seems a bit funny to me... --Nichenbach 02:07, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The introductive part is misleading. It needs to adress the safegard clause - AdamSmithee 20:14, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

ro:Uniunea Europeană has some more interesting information about this (for instance, Romania was the first country in Central and Eastern Europe to have official relations with the European Community, which preceded EU). If someone has the time for this, maybe he could include that information here. - AdamSmithee 21:24, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, thats what i thought[edit]

i remember that romanians were pretty mad because they thought that they ouldneve join the EU b/c their joingin date kept being postponed or something? Anyway it would be good news to Romanians and Bulgarians!

Maps[edit]

Ive changed the maps in this article. Earlier there were two maps - one showing Bulgaria higlighted in Europe, and one showing the European Union. Ive created a new map, showing Romania higlighted within the EU instead. There are two things Im not really sure about conserning the new map:

  • Shouldnt there be a border between Serbia and Montenegro (since the latter is independent nowadays)?
  • Is Malta in the map or is it outside? Since Malta is a EU member it would be nice to have it included.

Im not really sure about these things. I constructed the map from an older one I found on Wikipedia, and Im not very good at editing pictures. So if anyone feels like checking this up and correct any errors, it would be greate.

Moldova[edit]

I don't bellieve a reference to the webiste of a political party should count as turning things into facts - in particular not when the party in question (UKIP) is mainly a single issue party. Buurma 16:23, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I do agree. And the link do not work anymore. I tried to look for the article on the new UKIP website without sucess. 130.232.120.154 19:17, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I propose the data in the three articles (Accession of Romania to the European Union, Romanian membership of the European Union and Bulgarian membership of the European Union) be consolidated into a 2007 enlargement of the European Union like the 2004 enlargement of the European Union page. The histories overlap and it would be good to have one decent sized article discussing all this. The membership articles won't go much further given there isn't much to say after they've joined.- J.Logan`t: 15:35, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Broken Link[edit]

The link to the pdf Regular Report 2004 is broken, I had a quick look but I couldn't find a working link - David Forster —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.234.31.110 (talk) 12:30, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MEPs[edit]

"Upon accession Bulgaria's 18 and Romania's 35 observer MEPs became until each state held an election for the posts, which had to happen before the end of the year."

Republic of Ireland from 17th July 2012 allows Bulgarian and Romanian nationals to its labour market[edit]

modification of the map on "File:Europe work.PNG"

I want to ask if someone can add Ireland in blue color since "The Government decided on 17th July 2012 to cease restrictions on labour market access in respect of Bulgarian and Romanian nationals, to the Irish labour market, with effect from the 1st January 2012." http://www.djei.ie/labour/workpermits/bulgariaromania.htm

Thanks in advance.
