Bataan Death March[edit]

The whole Bataan Death March term must have been a limited occurance. I attended this Jamboree, and as the second show was early, and I never heard this term, I believe the term was very limited in use. 74.37.228.44 20:34, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I too attended this Jamboree, and I actually heard it quite regularly, both at my Subcamp and area (20) and around many program activities. Many other scouts from my state were in subcamps 1-3 and also knew the term. the Bataan death march reference refers to the second trip to the arena in which in was 120+ degrees out and no water was available to scouts from subs camps 1-9 due to the army's lack of maitaining the water buffalo's along the route as well as the secret service not allowing us to bring in our normal hydrating packs we were only allowed two 20 ounce clear plastice bottles for the entire trip

Deaths Section[edit]

The Deaths section uses non-neutral language. I have tagged the section. This line in particular could be re-written: "The major tragedy was that the boy scouts lied about the whole accident and did not let the scouts tell what really happened." Also, "A little known fact was that" should be made more professional and encyclopedia sounding. Lastly, the section does not cite its sources which is especially important due to the section's content. --michael180 (talk) 02:28, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was on staff at the Jamboree and I personally heard the exact account of what happened from a member of troop 129. They did not try to hide what happened at all. President Bush spoke of these tragic events when he attended the final arena show and the BSA allowed President Bush to present a scout who saved his fathers lif with an award on stage. The scouts in no way "lied" to anyone and I heard a rumor that some scouts attending had their parents flown out to the Jamboree because most of the adult leadership had been hospitalized or killed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.203.212.2 (talk) 16:52, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i witness this entire action from sub camp 7 commissary tent less then 50 yards from where this took place

i felt that not all the truth was told but the boy scouts of america didn't lie in any way the just withheld information about it they didn't lie

this is what happened a tent company hired by alaska contingent didn't send a enough people to put it up

when the troops showed up they adults help the company put the tent up the first tent went up fine the second was lifted up by a 50 mph gust of wind and blew it into a 100000 watt power line right above the tent all the adults were hold on to the metal frame were immediately electrocuted that is when emergency service personal from NYFD were on site within a matter of a minute or less their station was about 200 yards from the accident site
