"The 1980 English cricket season provided a glimpse of things to come as the developing West Indies cricket team easily won the summer's Test series..."

Given that WI had hammered England on their previous tour in 1976, that seems a rather strange thing to say. I was tempted to alter it, but maybe I'm missing something?

It is also a myth that "were it not for the weather the West Indies would have won the series convincingly" given the following:

The first test was a very close run victory (by 2 wickets with only Joel Garner left to bat). The second test was the ONLY test that the West Indies batsmen dominated.

England then strengthened their batting line up with Larkins and Rose and as a consequence, in the third and forth test, the West Indies would have had to chase 300 plus scores on deteriorating pitches, while the forth and fifth tests actually involving England declaring their second innings.

I have made an appropriate amendment. Paul haynes (talk) 12:19, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
