Top grossing films list manipulated[edit]

I cared to read the source stated for the top grossing films, and was surprised to discover it produced a different list! Actually, what happens is that "Deep Throat" has been erased from the list (it should be at #7). Strange business, to manipulate the data and then to quote the source so everybody can notice your wrongdoing. -Ignacio Agulló. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.9.233.117 (talk) 22:24, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What source are you referring to? I don't see any sources mentioned in the article.

The box office takings are wrong.

Top grossing films statistics are bogus[edit]

These numbers aren't from the Variety list (the bible of the industry). These aren't figures from the IMDB. These figures (such as for the porno films) are made up. BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR certainly did not make $50 million in 1972. This is a lie. And DEEP THROAT did not make $45 million. GREEN DOOR was far behind THROAT (and 1973's DEVIL IN MISS JONES) in box office takings, according to Variety.Shemp Howard, Jr. (talk) 04:24, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Variety list: Domestic Rentals/Domestic Gross
  • 1972
  • 1 The Godfather 86,275,000/ 188,079,500
  • 2 The Poseidon Adventure 42,000,000/ 91,560,000
  • 3 What's Up Doc? 28,000,000/ 61,040,000
  • 4 Deliverance 22,600,000/ 49,268,000
  • 5 Jeremiah Johnson 21,900,000/ 47,742,000

These are real numbers. Does this mean all the Wiki articles that use the bogus site as a source are bad?Shemp Howard, Jr. (talk) 04:27, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
