Unencyclopedic tone and edit warring
[edit]On 20th April, I updated the main article to include a criminal charge of terrorism (cited in the references). This was deleted, while bizarrely leaving 'under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act' citation hanging. Is this wrong? Explain, please.
Moreover, I updated the article as per standard for charged but not convicted religious fundamentalist terrorists (see Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and others). This is done under the purview of the living subject biography policy, in which I identified the individual as a Hindu fundamentalist politician and accused militant. This is undeniably true- as per the citations that existed prior to my edits to this page. I expect User:Samsara to explain why this edit was reversed as well- I understand there was a flurry of edit-warring activity by unverified IP addresses, some on mobile after my last edit, but reversing that to a poorly-written unencylopedic entry was sub-optimal.
I understand the subject of this article was nominated to run as a major-party candidate for a seat in the Lok Sabha in the upcoming elections. Stating that this choice inspired widespread outrage is well-attested, verifiable, and not meriting unexplained deletion. The person in question is also not a religious leader- she is a self-proclaimed religious leader in the same way an accused Islamist militant would not be regarded as a 'spiritual leader' regardless of claims to the contrary. That's just not done, and I am deeply disappointed, for the umpteenth time, attempting to regulate content on right-wing Hindu nationalist politicians and ideas on Wikipedia. Embarrassing.

- WP:BLP - in short, serious accusations must be sourced to multiple reliable sources. Samsara 07:28, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- No 'serious accusations' made. She has been accused of terrorism- this is a matter of PUBLIC RECORD. Given the political sensitivity of the subject, it seems that someone may just have a political bias aimed at preventing people from accessing accurate information about a candidate for public office. Still embarrassing. Club-sandwich (talk) 08:29, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
Club-sandwich and Samsara after some copy edit, I have removed the tags, please let me know if you disagree with the tag removal. I would request you to please review the article once again and share your coments to further improve the article. --DBigXrayᗙ 12:03, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Without having gone through all of the sources, I would eyeball that it looks acceptable now. Thanks for everyone's efforts. Samsara 17:10, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- PS: Have made some corrections that I understand to be cosmetic. All I have time for, I'm afraid. Samsara 17:13, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Looks fine to me. The page has been dramatically improved since I started editing, thanks to the efforts of committed editors since then. Still a long way to go, but the core doesn't seem as compromised as it was before. Club-sandwich (talk) 20:51, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Club-sandwich and Samsara thanks a lot for the kind reply and your edits to further improve the article. cheers. --DBigXrayᗙ 05:30, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

Poorly written gibberish
[edit]Found this on this current major party Lok Sabha candidate's Wikipedia page, lacking an encyclopedic tone or grammar of any kind. Please revise and fix as you will!
" During her interview on popular TV show Aap Ki Adalat[1] in India TV hosted by journalist Rajat Sharma, she revealed that she was brutally tortured in police custody for 23 days continuously during interrogation, and was denied access to her lawyer and family members. She said "this was certainly a conspiracy hatched by the Congress-led UPA government, which resulted into my nine-year ordeal. It (the conspiracy) was (meant) to endorse the bogey of Saffron terror, a term coined by P Chidambaram (former home minister). I am innocent."[2] " Club-sandwich (talk) 23:35, 21 April 2019 (UTC)

Pragya Singh Thakur is a self proclaimed sadhvi, charged for criminal activities which led to her arrest by Indian NIA court , which was probing into the Malegaon bombing of September 8, 2006 case, which killed 40 innocent people including women and children. NIA made him a prime suspect and she admitted to her crime in the judicial custody, but later denied all charges in the court. She was in NIA custody for 9 years , and later got released in bail concerning medical ground in 2018. The present ruling BJP party of india has provided all possible support and planted her as their candidate for upcoming election against arch rivals INC from Bhopal. She again provoked controversy by proclaiming that the Martyr of 26/11 Mumbai attack NIA chief Hemant Karkare was deceased because of her curse. It remain to be seen that whether she get clear of terrorism charges. 85.154.4.197 (talk) 12:40, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

Pragya Singh Thakur (born 2 February 1970), better known as Sadhvi Pragya, is an Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party. During the college days, she was active member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and later joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Change this to she was active member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and later joined Durga vahini.

Thakur is not an "undertrial" Member of Parliament. Her status as an indicted individual has not diminished or affected her duties as an MP, and she has fully participated in the proceedings of the Lok Sabha. Her office should be re-labelled as "Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha" with the Constituency of "Bhopal" and the status of "Incumbent". 70.29.38.15 (talk) 17:00, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

- Not done The article clearly says that she is an accused in the bombings and that automatically implies that she may be found not guilty (or guilty) of the charges once there is trial. There is no need to add "presumed innocent" or the claims of innocence made by other individuals. RegentsPark (comment) 18:40, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
