Rolling Stone Review
I added the five star rating to the Rolling Stone interview despite the lack of a specific score rating in the review. I'd like other users to read the review and give their input as to whether this is a 5/5 review. It's a rather spectacular review - I've only rarely seen something this deep, effusive, and glowing. And I feel as though including a score on the Wikipedia page is much more helpful than merely a link, and that we're qualified to approximate where not listed, when the implied rating is obvious (as sanctioned by consensus). 140.247.43.222 06:14, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Please see WP:ALBUM#Professional reviews. You should not represent reviews without an explicit rating as such. Rather you should summarize it with a term like "(favorable)" or "(very favorable)". Also note that magazine names should be italicized. I've reverted your change. --PEJL 10:07, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks - I had a feeling the consensus-based approach to starred ratings was not an official Wikipedia policy. Did you, or anyone else, have a chance to read through the review? If so, how do you reckon we label it? Shall we quote one or two words, or write the generic "(extremely) favorable"? 140.247.252.50 05:17, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- Nope, haven't read it. Using a standard phrasing like "extremely favorable" would be favorable, for consistency. --PEJL 13:14, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:LivingintheMaterialWorldalbumcover.jpg
Image:LivingintheMaterialWorldalbumcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Pete Ham
I see that Pete Ham is listed as a guitar player on this album. I'm wondering where this information was sourced from. Two official sources (George Harrison website & Official album site) do not have him listed. Can we remove his credit from this page or is there some documentation of uncredited playing on the album? Dan Hewins (talk) 14:43, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- The only reference I found was in Chip Madinger and Mark Easter: Eight Arms To Hold You – The Solo Compendium. 44.1 Productions 2000, ISBN 0-615-11724-4. p.439. It says: “Badfinger members Pete Ham and Tom Evans participated in sessions on October 4th and 11th.”. --84.142.165.143 (talk) 14:01, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
Typo: John Barnham
Under personnel it says John Barnham – strings, it should be John Barham. If someone could correct that? --84.142.165.143 (talk) 13:43, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Lead
- ...and his mammoth charity project, The Concert for Bangladesh... → Different word choice needed for "mammoth charity project"
- The album was Harrison's second (and final) chart-topping album... → Phrase "and final" doesn't need to be in parentheses
- Expand the lead to talk about chart positions, international success, certifications, critical reception, etc.

Background
- ...but exhausted and frustrated in his efforts to ensure that the money raised would find its way to those in need.[7] → Change to "but left him..."
- ...and Apple proteges Lon & Derrek Van Eaton (“Sweet Music”) and to help promote the Ravi Shankar documentary Raga,[11]... → Put comma after "Sweet Music" and get rid of "and"
- ...had grown to “unparaleled” heights. → Fix spelling
- ...during which, he later claimed, he chanted the Hare Krishna mantra nonstop for days. → Verifiable?
- ...in the Prabhupada-inspired “Living in the Material World”[14] and “The Lord Loves the One (That Loves the Lord)”, and in “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)” and “Try Some, Buy Some”[15][16] → Put more commas and less of the word "and"
- ...whereas many of his Krishna devotionals on All Things Must Pass had been filled... → Put year in brackets after album mentioned
- ...perhaps as a result of the Bangladesh experience. → Verifiable?
- (Harrison himself gave 1972 as the year he started writing “So Sad”, a track dealing with the end of their relationship.[21]) → This does not need to be in parentheses
- ...one one hand... → This does not make sense
- ...both recorded in the first half of '72. → "'72" should be changed to "1972"
- “I’ve been held up, I’ve been run down / I can see quite clearly now through those past years / When I played towing the line.” → This is not necessary
- ...as he later put it in I Me Mine.[29] → Specify year in brackets of "I Be Mine"
- Will verify "Hare Krishna mantra nonstop" and "Bangladesh experience" at a later date. Everything else done. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 09:10, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
Production
- Address the issue with the image in this section as it is up for speedy deletion
- (Spector would receive a credit for "Try Some, Buy Some", however, recorded in February '71 as part of Ronnie Spector's intended solo album.) → Verifiable?; Replace "'71" with "1971"
- ...and that the album was set for release on 20 December.[34] → Specify year of release
- ...sound found throughout The Beatles’ Abbey Road.[27] → Specify year of release for "Abbey Road" in parentheses
- (The German vividly recalls recording his standup bass part for "Be Here Now" in a toilet there,[41] and footage included in Martin Scorsese's 2011 Harrison documentary shows the musicians playing at Friar Park.) → Does not need to be in parentheses, Is the second part of the sentence verifiable?
- In this way, Nicholas Schaffner would write in 1977, "George devised a luxuriant rock devotional designed to transform his fans' stereo equipment into a temple."[1] → Combine with last paragraph of section
- Will adress the image issue, and verify "Spector would..." and the second part of "The German..." at a later date. Everything else done. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 09:16, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
Release

- ...Beatles compilations 1962–1966 and 1967–1970 and for Paul McCartney & Wings' second album, Red Rose Speedway.[48] → Specify year of each album release in parentheses
- ...Harrison's second US number 1... → Change to "Harrison's second number-one hit in the United States'
- ...was finally issued on 30 May in America (as Apple SMAS 3410) and on 22 June in Britain (Apple PAS 10006).[50] → Specify year; Information in parentheses not necessary
- ...on a religious procession through central London, on 8 July.[56] → Specify year of event

Reception
- ...began his highly favourable album review with an enthusiastic "At last it's here ..."[62] → Add period at end of statement
- ...than that which had greeted All Things Must Pass.[65] → Specify year of album release
- More sombre in tone, Living in the Material World was distinguished by Harrison's philosophical and religious ruminations, making it clear he was in distress with the state of the world and where it was headed. Subsequently, the feeling in some quarters was that Harrison had lost much of the enormous momentum he'd had going for him since The Beatles' break-up three years before. → Verifiable?
- ...Living in the Material World to be a worthy successor to All Things Must Pass,[66]... → Put album year of "All Things Must Pass"
- And George, God love him, had the temerity to actually oblige ..."[38] → Put period at the end of the sentence
- Will verify "More sombre in tone" at a later date. Everything else done. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 09:24, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
Cover artwork
- Image needs to updated with a suitable fair use rationale
- As he'd done with both All Things Must Pass and The Concert for Bangladesh... → Specify years of release for both albums
- ...at Paul McCartney, who had recently launched a fan club for his new band. → Verifiable?
- Will verify "at Paul McCartney" at a later date. Everything else done. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 09:29, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
Reissue
- On 26 September 2006, Living in the Material World was reissued on CD, limited edition LP and in a deluxe CD/DVD package by Capitol Records and EMI. The remastered album features two additional tracks, the B-side "Deep Blue" from the 1971 single "Bangla Desh", and "Miss O'Dell", the B-side to "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)". → Verifiable?
- Verified. Evanh2008 (talk|contribs) 09:31, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

After thoroughly reviewing this article, I have decided to put this article on hold. There are numerous issues, but they are all minor, which is why I decided to put this article on hold for good article status. I will give you the general seven days to fix these issues and/or address issues you believe do not affect good article status. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Rp0211 (talk2me) 23:50, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- Since all of the issues have not been addressed and the seven days to fix these issues is over, I am going to have to fail this article for good article nomination at this time. There are still many standout issues that need to be addressed, and a peer review could help improve this article further. Once these issues have been addressed, however, you are more than welcome to put the article up for nomination again. Rp0211 (talk2me) 01:27, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

- "conspired to keep his musical career on hold for over a year.[2] " - I don't understand this phrase. I suggest you replace "conspired" with a different word
- Well, it is correct English, a little poetic perhaps, I admit. This from my Collins Dictionary: "Conspire ... 2. (intr) to act together as if by design: the elements conspired to spoil our picnic ..." I would like to keep it if possible ("combined" might be an alternative, but I don't think it works as well). Given that dictionary definition, is it something you're insisting on? JG66 (talk) 16:40, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, a bit poetic, but not a big issue.--GoPTCN 20:26, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

- I suggest splitting the Background section and adding a new section, "Content" or "Compositiong and lyrics" or something similar, as most of the information does not deal with the background. For example you write a lot about the themes, especially in paragraphs 3 and 5.
- Not sure I totally agree, but I've added the Content section heading as requested. JG66 (talk) 16:40, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

- "The German bassist" - whose name is... ?
- Actually (and I'm sorry to keep questioning you each time) I don't think there should be any confusion here. The point about a "small core group of musicians" has been made two paras above, where Klaus Voormann has been introduced as the only bass player on the sessions. Also, having contributed recently to the Paul McCartney FA, I was surprised at how few names received any kind of introduction there; I really think the appearance of "Voormann" at the end of the previous sentence followed by "the German bassist" here (after the introduction two paras above) would be clear enough to readers. Again, is this something you're insisting on? JG66 (talk) 16:40, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
