[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because it is relevant out of the following reasons:

  1. This is an annual event with around 100 university presses from all over the world participating in. University Presses have a huge impact on society. Their existence and publications help to improve education etc.
  2. This article is linked to other articles, like Association of University Presses, Association of American University Presses, Frankfurt Book Fair and adds some important information to them.
  3. Other articles link to this article.
  4. The aims of the Convention are non-profit, the convention helps to spread information, knowledge, to improve quality assurance. It fulfills is an important role in the worldwide society.

  1. There are currently no third-party reliable sources to indicate that this gathering has "a huge impact on society".
  2. The fact that this is linked to is irrelevant to its notability or significance.
  3. The fact that the aims are non-profit is irrelevant to its notability or significance. Wikipedia is not for telling the world about your noble cause or organization; it is for encyclopedic articles about notable/significant subjects. 331dot (talk) 11:46, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear 331dot, Thank you very much for your information. I followed your advice and added some thirdparty links and references to the article. Here is what I have gathered so far to support my contestation of deletion:

  1. WP:INDY: I have found about 1800 websites reporting the Convention. Therefore there is significant coverage of this Convention and it is no original research.
  2. WP:RS: Among the mentioned sources there are many very reliable and secondary sources on university websites, the official website of the Frankfurt Book Fair, the independent newspaper Boersenblatt etc.

If you agree, I will have something to eat now and when I come back in an hour or so, may I add some further references from the 1800 google hits? --BlueDolphin765 (talk) 12:09, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't claim that this was original research(a synthesis of your conclusions), I said that it did not have reliable sources in the article. I have no doubt this gathering exists but the article doesn't make it clear to me what is notable about it or its "huge impact on society" that you claim. Google hits are not necessarily a reason to keep this article. Since you indicate you will do more work I will put an inuse tag on the page. 331dot (talk) 12:17, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 331dot, I have added a lot of sources, including 2 newspapers, and put some different aspects in it. Do you think the article is good now? Thanks a lot for your help! --BlueDolphin765 (talk) 17:56, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
