We had sensed this from the very beginning of November. We were being given less and less help. We’d been used to talking to people from front HQ every day, but now they’d all vanished. Khrushchev wasn’t here, and Yeryomenko came only once..." This was under Stalingrad 1942 - 1943. This was an accident I made in my prior edit.
