  • 21:0721:07, 25 February 2023 diff hist −215 m University of ChicagoI have again removed the reference to politician Carol Moseley Braun. I was criticized for doing so earlier because allegedly I was using Wikipedia to "voice [my] political opinions." No. Ms Braun, a Chicago machine politician who has repeatedly faced corruption allegations, is not someone remotely of the same calibre (and integrity) as every other person mentioned in the article. (Except Leopold and Loeb.) If she's a hack, that doesn't mean I'm being "political." Tags: Manual revert Reverted

  • 20:1920:19, 24 February 2023 diff hist −215 m University of ChicagoYet again, I have removed references to Carol Moseley Braun. To re-state, the point of the "people" section is to highlight alumni or faculty of note and achievement. Such as Ed Levi or Carl Sagan or Susan Sontag. Not a Chicago machine political who was embroiled in corruption scandals. Tag: Reverted

She should not be included in featured alums alongside people such as Carl Sagan and Kurt Vonnegut. Here is one of many sources: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2003/02/is-carol-moseley-braun-a-crook.html

Shouldn't be (glowingly) mentioned alongside the likes of Kurt Vonnegut and Carl Sagan. Tag: Reverted

He would have then received a commission and gone on to eventually command that minesweeper - as an officer rather than as a "midshipman."
