Before you move that to DRV...

Aren't you topic banned from deletion discussions, broadly construed? If so, I'd make triple sure that posting to DRV is even allowed. Floquenbeam (talk) 18:51, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. Who should I ask? Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 18:54, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmmm.... I guess the admin who enacted the topic ban, as a first step? If I'm skimming the ARCA right, this is like the opposite of what you got the topic ban for, so maybe it will be fine? But even better, IMHO, especially while you have an an active ARCA request up, is that you postpone the DRV request until you see what the results are. Either you'll have no topic ban anymore, in which case a DRV request is fine, or you'll still have a topic ban, in which case a clarification request from the admin who imposed the ban would make sense. Redirecting an article that was kept at an AfD you started

Hi TenPoundHammer. You nominated Monkey-ed Movies for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Monkey-ed Movies in May 2022. I provided sources at the AfD, which was closed as "keep". Today, you redirected the article with the edit summary "redirect to more notable spinoff per lack of sources". Please do not redirect articles when sources exist and have been found already. Thank you. Cunard (talk) 11:03, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Over the past few days, you've redirected Monkey-ed Movies (link), Skating's Next Star (link), Monkey Life (link), 2 Minute Drill (game show) (link), and Monsters We Met (link) for lacking sources. I've been able to find sources for all of these so have reverted the redirects. I am worried that this is resuming what happened at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1101#TenPoundHammer: prods and AfDs. The ANI report led to Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Conduct in deletion-related editing, which resulted in a topic ban from deletion discussions. Please stop redirecting television articles that you cannot find sources for. It is time-consuming to find sources for so many articles and then source and expand them. Cunard (talk) 12:43, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cunard: Thank you for rescuing these articles. One of my frustrations with AFD prior to the topic ban was when someone would come along and say "keep, I found sources", and the article would get kept but nobody got around to adding them to the article. Of course, I could have just fixed this by adding them myself and not haranguing you and/or other editors. I did take your sources into consideration when I redirected those articles, as I was uncertain if any of them were sufficient. Since you've decided to undo the redirects and add the sources, I'm not going to fight it. I apologize for hounding you on this in the past, and thank you again for fixing them up. If you see anything else on User:TenPoundHammer/Article cleanup that might need a fix, you're welcome to do it as I trust your source-finding skills. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 16:26, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your frustration with articles remaining unsourced. I try my best to find sources at each AfD I participate in. I do not always add sources to the articles because in many cases, there are many AfDs I want to participate in and there is just not enough time. I hope that other AfD participants will share the workload of adding sources. And I want to leave time for my other Wikipedia activities like writing articles on topics I'm interested in.

Redirecting can be considered pseudo-deletion. In the past few days, you've redirected five television series articles where I was able to find sources to meet Wikipedia:Notability#General notability guideline. Regarding taking the sources I found into consideration and being uncertain they were insufficient, in the case of Monkey-ed Movies, there was a consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Monkey-ed Movies to "keep". Please stop redirecting articles as it is leading to notable topics no longer having articles. When editors have redirected large numbers of articles in the past, I've suggested that they take the articles to AfD which draws a larger audience since much fewer editors will notice a bold redirect. But as you have a topic ban from deletion discussions, you cannot take them to AfD. If the topic ban was not in place, I'd be worried about too many AfD nominations happening again. I hope you continue your good work at User:TenPoundHammer/Article cleanup on sourcing articles but recommend that you stop redirecting articles. Cunard (talk) 09:23, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
