Bajagur is a village in Tiptur Taluk in Tumkur district of Karnataka, India. It is situated on the southern side of the state of Karnataka. Kannada is widely spoken language in Bajagur. It is famous for a temple for Sri Kempamma Devi which organizes an yearly festival dedicated to the deity and people from 12 nearby villages participate in the festival which includes homa, devi pooja, and folk dances.

Location and Administration

The villages is located 78 km towards west from District headquarters Tumakuru, 14 km from Tiptur town in Tumkur district and is 140 km from the state capital Bangalore. It is bordered by Tiptur, Arasikere, Hassan, Tumkur. Bajagur covers the total areas of 469.42 hectares most of which is agricultural area with only 97.99 hectares of non-agricultural area.

Local language of Bajagur is Kannada. Total population of the villages is 1865 with approximately 503 houses. Literacy rate in the village is 68.5% as per the census details from the authorities.

Govt Primary, Govt Middle and Govt Secondary Schools are available in this Village. Nearest Govt Senior Secondary School, Govt Arts and Science Degree College, Private Engineering College, Govt Polytechnic College and Govt ITA College are in Tiptur. This village has a Government Kannada medium high school. Students from this village rely on the colleges in Tiptur for higher education. This village has a lake which is the main source of water for agriculture. A channel of the river Hemavathy runs through the lake. There are two main temples within the small village. The biggest one is the Kempamma Devi temple (Bellekeramma). There is also a Aanjaneya (Hanuman) Temple. An annual cart (theru) festival is held during the month of April and people from the surrounding villages assemble during the occasion.

The nearest railway station is located in Tiptur and is about 140 km from Bangalore.
