Sky Force is an upcoming Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani and produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios. It stars Akshay Kumar, Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur.[1][2] The film is a retelling of India's retaliatory attack on Pakistan's Sargodha airbase in the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965, described as India's first and deadliest airstrike.[3][4]

The film was officially announced in October 2023 with its title, prior to which the filming began in May 2023.[5] Principal photography took place in India, USA and United Kingdom until the film wrapped up in April 2024.[6][7]

Sky Force is scheduled to have a global theatrical release on 2 October 2024, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.[8]

Production[edit]

The film first came into development in June 2022, with pre-production done by March 2023.[9][10] Later actor Akshay Kumar confirmed the movie on 2 October 2023, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.[11] The film is inspired by India's retaliatory attack on Pakistan's Sargodha airbase in the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965.[12][13]

Filming[edit]

Principal photography began on 31 May 2023 in Mumbai.[14] The team arrived in Lucknow to begin second schedule on 24 August 2023.[15][16] Filming ended on 26 April 2024, having lasted 100 days, including 60 days for Kumar's part.[17]

The film was shot in Mumbai, Lucknow, Sitapur, Amritsar, Hyderabad, Delhi, Pathankot, UK and USA.[18][19]

Release[edit]

Sky Force film is set to theatrical release on 2 October 2024.[20]
