Shalini Passi is an Indian art collector, and philanthropist based in New Delhi.[1][2]

Art and collection[edit]

Passi is a member of the Advisory Board of Khoj (the not-for-profit contemporary arts organisation based in Delhi) since 2012,[3] which facilitates and supports the development of experimental contemporary art practice in India and South Asia. She is also a patron of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale.[4]

In 2018, Passi started her own foundation, The Shalini Passi Art Foundation, and MASH[5] which explores the intersection of the arts and promotes emerging artists in India.[6]

Passi regularly loans works from her collection to exhibitions and art events, including Kusum by Mrinalini Mukherjee, which was loaned to the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in 2018.[7]

In September 2022, Passi organised MASH Young Artists’ Exhibition: Fleeting Identities which aimed at fostering search for and recognize visual artists with an unfiltered and transparent process of Open Call.[8][9]

Passi held an exhibition called The Warp and Weft of Perception and a solo art exhibition of paintings, Through my Eyes, at the Visual Arts Gallery in New Delhi.[6][4]

Shalini's art collection includes works by Indian contemporary artists including Riyas Komu,[10] M. F. Husain[2] Anita Dube,[11] Zarina Hashmi, Subodh Gupta,[12] and Atul Dodiya, and Bharti Kher[10] as well as international artists including Jeff Koons,[13] Damien Hirst, and Vladimir Kagan.[14][15]

Philanthropy[edit]

Since 2010, Passi has been involved in educating underprivileged children in Delhi, through workshops that provide opportunities for children to learn about arts and crafts. She supports the Delhi Society for the Welfare of Special Children.[6]

In February 2021, Shalini Passi, with her spouse Sanjay Passi, donated Ten Crore Rupees to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.[16][17]

In 2021, Passi raised funds for Covid Relief India by organising an online exhibition.[18][19]
