S.M. Khan was a 1982-batch IIS (Indian Information Service) officer of Government of India and retired on 30 January 2017.[1]

Khan started the webcasting of news bulletins of Doordarshan News from the regional news centers.[2]

Khan was elected as the Trustee, India Islamic Cultural Center in 2014 and as its Vice President in 2019.[3]
