Radio Romeo was a rock band from Los Angeles, California, founded in 2006 by Basil Holly (Bombs, Belladonna, Whipsmack!) and Guy Hoffman (Violent Femmes, Bodeans). Their 2007 eponymously-titled debut album was produced by Andy Johns (The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen) and engineered by Brandon Henegar.
Sound and influences
[edit]Radio Romeo performed in a classic rock style, blending melodic '70s pop with late '80s guitar rock and incorporating Delta Blues riffs akin to the Rolling Stones. The band's debut album was produced by Andy Johns, who also produced the Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers (1971) and Exile on Main Street (1972), among other albums. Radio Romeo's other influences included the Who, David Bowie, AC/DC, Ramones, Bryan Ferry, Buddy Holly, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Otis Redding and Sam Cooke.
