Notice from the Portals WikiProject[edit]

WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

Portal updates[edit]

Updated portal using Template:Transclude random excerpt, providing current, up-to-date information that is verbatim to article content. A consensus approving the usage of transclusion templates in portals was formed at this Village Pump discussion. Used selections from Portal:Faroe Islands/Selected article and Portal:Faroe Islands/Selected biography
Removed: "{{/box-header|Selected biography|Portal:Faroe Islands/Selected biography}} {{Transclude random subpage|max=4|subpage=Selected biography|seed=5}} {{Box-footer}}". Biographical entries are now consolidated into the Selected article section. There were only four entries on the Selected biography subpage, and there are a limited number of biographies available on English Wikipedia for the Faroe Islands. Consolidating the content provides a more comprehensive Selected article section, rather than presenting a biography section with limited entries.
Added a new topics section
Added a new General images section, which displays images from various topically-related articles.
Not a lot of Recognized content is available at this time (GA/FA class articles and Featured lists), but from what is available, I added 2 FA-class articles (diff), 1 FL-class article (diff) and 3 GA-class articles (diff).
Expanded with the addition of B-class articles (diff)
Added more articles to diversify and round-out the portal and provide a more comprehensive topical overview (diff)
Expanded the Portal:Faroe Islands/Selected picture page
