Eurozone[edit]

According to Eurozone article, first enlargement of the zone was in 2001 with admittance of Greece, so the following is not true:

Slovenia adopts the euro, replacing the tolar and becoming the first enlargement to the eurozone.

It's Time[edit]

If that were to be done, I'd propose it be in the form of a digest summarizing the portal archives, which would take some serious writing (and editorial decision-making). As it stands now, it's more of a news almanac which reflects the NPOV of any or all who added daily entries to the CE portal.

There's no consensus over time as to the format of these month-by-month pages, if you step backward through WP, so your phrase "all these months" could be inferred to entail a sizeable project of pruning, which could also be a source of contention. I'd have to evaluate the current format in light of its currency with WP itself, rather than the past format documenting months that are "pre-WP."

More directly put, I perceive that the current and recent months are indeed "articles" that are merely written in real time as world events unfold, so they're necessarily modular in nature. I'd be happy to see a "static" digest format run alongside the almanac format, that might carry the nomenclature: "Digest: January 2007", hence "Almanac: January 2007". I suppose as long as there's enough database space provided, an entire wing of WP might be devoted to this chronicling task, so I wouldn't be su(r)prised to see the introduction of new namespaces to organize all the new news as opposed to all the old news.

An interesting idea. I personally don't have the time to edit on Wikipedia as of late, but I think your suggestions are good. The main reason I'm pushing for a change is that Wikipedia seems to lack having a fair good calendar. One with all the holidays, important dates, famous anniversaries (man landing on the moon, etc.), as well as a brief of what happened in that month to which the Portal:Current events seems to be a good inclusion. Again, I would like to see it become something more than a straight archive of the Portal:Current events -- they already have one. Agreed there is no concensus, but everything has a beginning on Wikipedia. =) Mkdw ^talk 08:37, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Windows Vista[edit]

On the section where it displays Microsoft's release of Windows Vista, it shows the following text:

"Windows Vista, the latest version of the Microsoft Windows operating system is released worldwide to consumers. Several security flaws are detected within the first few hours of its release. (PC World Australia)"

The article is dated January 2007. All the stories, like a newspaper, are about 'current events'. Like any archive, they do not backfix dates, tenses, or stories. Mkdw ^talk 03:33, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
