Uzziah takes the throne at the age of sixteen. Under the influence of a prophet named Zechariah, he is faithful to Yahweh. He becomes extremely prosperous and powerful. But then, his pride leads to his downfall. He is suddenly struck with tzaraath while in the act of offering incense. The government is turned over to his son Jotham.
