Request to whitelist pages on filmcompanion.in[edit]

The reason is to include the review about a particular album, or the songs it had been listed in top charts, which is needed for Meenakshi Sundareshwar. 171.61.254.173 (talk) 14:28, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

no Declined. The authors of those pages don't seem to be notable reviewers. One is basically anonymous. The authors are basically making blog posts, and with no evidence of reliability or notability, we generally don't cite blogs in articles. ~Anachronist (talk) 16:35, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe just the interview with Justin Prabhakaran could be whitelisted since it is an exclusive? Kailash29792 (talk) 07:09, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request to whitelist page on econlib.org[edit]

Blacklisted here due to involvement in a paid-editing fiasco, and I was directed to request just the single page here. I want to add this as a footnote to YIMBY, as it's an important addendum to Hsieh and Moretti on the costs of land-use regulation. grendel|khan 02:13, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Grendelkhan: plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. I trust that this will be replaced with a more authorative link (like an addendum/correction to the article) if/when that becomes available. --Dirk Beetstra T C 05:15, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Beetstra: Ideally, yes, but I'm not sure if it'll be properly published anywhere, unfortunately. I'll try to keep an eye out. grendel|khan 09:22, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request to whitelist page on filmcompanion.in[edit]

It is needed for Kaithi as it is very insightful. The source itself says, "Edited excerpts from an interview between Lokesh Kanakaraj and Baradwaj Rangan". --Kailash29792 (talk) 05:17, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Kailash29792: plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. --Dirk Beetstra T C 07:00, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request to whitelist pages on filmcompanion.in[edit]

The usual reason: Baradwaj Rangan. These articles are used in Kaithi (with the bogus .com extension) but cannot be archived unless whitelisted. Is it possible though to whitelist an entire root page like this? filmcompanion.in/author/baradwaj-rangan/interviews/ Or only individual pages? --Kailash29792 (talk) 08:11, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Beetstra and Anachronist, what is the decision? I say ignore the links below, only the ones above need whitelisting. --Kailash29792 (talk) 11:51, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Whole path on filmcompanion.in[edit]

  • Link requested to be whitelisted: filmcompanion.in/author/baradwaj-rangan/interviews/

@Kailash29792: Do you mean that you can link to e.g. filmcompanion.in/features/tamil-features/top-15-tamil-films-of-2019-asuran-super-deluxe-vetri-maaran-ram-peranbu-dhanush-monster-sj-suryah-lakshmy-ramakrishnan-house-owner-baradwaj-rangan/ as a document using this as the 'path'? --Dirk Beetstra T C 10:42, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't know since this is an individual page, not a root page. I'm not even sure if whitelisting filmcompanion.in/author/baradwaj-rangan/ will whitelist all the pages it contains. But I think this is the root to filmcompanion.in/author/baradwaj-rangan/interviews/, so it's worth trying. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:11, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That isn't a root page to anything, because all the links on it don't share the same root URL. Whitelisting that page would not cause other pages to be whitelisted also. Doesn't this film critic have some other publication outlet that isn't blacklisted? ~Anachronist (talk) 16:31, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently not, and he joined FC after quitting The Hindu. Maybe this request was futile, so please decline it. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:40, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request to whitelist crontab.guru[edit]

Page that would benefit is my bot tutorial: User:Novem Linguae/Essays/Toolforge bot tutorial. This website is a tool that is like a calculator but for something programming related. Thanks. –Novem Linguae (talk) 00:11, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Novem Linguae: no Declined for now. I really don't see the point of that, when simply explaining each of the five crontab recurrence fields in a document with a few examples is trivial to do, and the fields are easy to understand. Our cron article already explains it quite well. For a bot on Toolforge, how many practical different crontab examples would be needed? Probably just a handful. The purpose of that page seems to be to guide you to a paid monitoring service. ~Anachronist (talk) 14:32, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Seconded; no compelling reason to add an ad-laden crontab guide given that the article already covers it adequately. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:02, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's a live calculator. You type the numbers in and it calculates the cron schedule expression for you. No worries though. Thanks for your time. –Novem Linguae (talk) 15:09, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request to whitelist page on filesusr.com[edit]

This is for the article Conditional baptism. The article currently includes a citation identified as Rituale Romanum: Holy Baptism - General Rules. That comes from Sanctamissa.org, but currently goes to a 404 Not Found error page. So I went looking elsewhere on Sanctamissa.org and found on the page at https://www.sanctamissa.org/liturgical-resources a link to Rituale Romanum 1964. Unfortunately that turned out to be a page under the filesusr.com domain, which I'm not familiar with but which turns out to be blacklisted. Note that I have no particular commitment to this filesusr.com page; if the same content can be found anywhere else on the web, which is plausible, please let me know and we can cite a different URL instead. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 10:11, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Metropolitan90: plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. fileusr.com is blacklisted because it allows random uploads, including material that is under copyright, to circumvent blacklisting, etc. etc. However, legitimate organisations have sometimes an account here, and they store material there, and that seems to be the case here. --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:29, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! --Metropolitan90 (talk) 15:54, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request to whitelist heyday.xyz[edit]

This is for Rusty Foster. Heyday.xyz is the url for a software company that has existed since 2016 and has a well-written blog. --The Cunctator (talk) 18:10, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request to whitelist lengosongo.cf[edit]

Page contains news on Central African Republic. It seems to be blocked for some reason. Borysk5 (talk) 20:05, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request to whitelist kickstarter.com/projects/alexwinter/deep-web-the-untold-story-of-bitcoin-and-the-silk[edit]

  1. Explain why the site should be whitelisted. – Because I needed to "cite a source" for the full film listing here, Deep Web: The Untold Story of Bitcoin and The Silk Road
  2. Explain which articles would benefit from the addition of the link., just this one that I know of, but possibly a couple others, Keanu Reeves filmography
  3. Provide the specific link to the page you're requesting be added: Link requested to be whitelisted: kickstarter.com/projects/alexwinter/deep-web-the-untold-story-of-bitcoin-and-the-silk
    • Please use the basic URL so that there is no link (www.google.ca, not http://www.google.ca). kickstarter.com.
    • Please add a {{LinkSummary|example.org}} (replace example.org with the domain your specific url resides on, and remove the 'www.' part, and everything following the domain-name). This inserts a set of links that helps in finding relevant information and related discussion on the requested site.  Done above — Preceding unsigned comment added by Th78blue (talkcontribs) and reformatted by Dirk Beetstra T C 18:32, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Th78blue: this is an open kickstarter, so you will have to give us more than this. Is there really no other sourcing for the facts you have? The kickstarter is just a primary source, and kickstarter is blocked because of SOAPBOX-concerns (well, these sites are actively abused for that). Please expand on this. Thanks. Dirk Beetstra T C 18:39, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This link from Decider should be a reasonable source. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:42, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh you know what, yes, that should work. I don't need it unblocked then as long as this is considered a source that would be valid (for the purposes of just validating the TITLE of a movie! From an edit that I made that was reverted...) Thanks all. Th78blue (They/Them/Their • talk) 18:45, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request to whitelist a particular bit.ly short-URL[edit]

Needed for Succession. Links to a particular case-file on USPTO's official-web database, I'm forced to include in an edit-summary as a RS citation for nearly impossible-to-find information in freely-accessible public domain in order to address a past editing-affair (needless to remind of the severe textual-limits in there?). Nevermind even more narrowing-down per this site's RS guidelines. —103.163.124.73 (talk) 08:22, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

no Declined. Sources belong in the article, not an edit summary. — JJMC89(T·C) 08:34, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@JJMC89: But I'm not looking to use it as a citation out of my accord, though. It's only to convince a particularly-pedantic higher-UAL editor at the WikiProject that my educated-contribution is not mere empirical fact, let alone educated-guess, but in fact something properly-verifiable per the understanding of “verifiability” in this site's standards. "She" [or anybody else, for that matter] is welcome to incorporate that into that article and/or one of its related articles as they deem fit, on their own. —103.163.124.73 (talk) 12:26, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just use the original Dirk Beetstra T C 12:35, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Pile on no Declined: the target of the bitly is flagged by bitly as potentially harmful. --Dirk Beetstra T C 10:47, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Beetstra: Ahh... Predictable! Well.. I can't do anything when you won't spare enough time with calm-mind to scroll-down that filter-webpage to parse the long-URLs yourself, except to assure you that..: I've already extended my painstaking-initiative by reporting that false-positive of blacklisting one of US governments' official-web databases as "abuse" way before I got to add this subsection here. I'm awaiting their response to my Google Forms-facilitated report. —103.163.124.73 (talk) 12:26, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I did not check that, so I guess you are right on that. Anyway, just use the original, there are enough characters in the edit-summary (ref) to make your point. Dirk Beetstra T C 12:37, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And if there is a content dispute, just start a discussion section on the associated talk page. — xaosflux Talk 15:15, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Homeless Hub[edit]

This entire domain is blacklisted. I can't tell why. It seems legitimate to me. I'd like to specifically use this url. Is it good? Can someone whitelist it?

Link requested to be whitelisted: homelesshub.ca/resource/high-level-policies-and-procedures-guide-isolation-sites-people-experiencing-homelessness

I'm using it for Draft:Inner_City_Health_Associates

CT55555 (talk) 15:42, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The reads like a loop of people asking to whitelist the whole site and people saying that in some period a bunch of sockpuppets used it, but have now stopped. Also lots of people pointing out that it's serious resource for homelessness issues. I can't see any reason to not at least whitelist the specific url I ask for, the wider debate about the whole site, I'll stay out of. CT55555 (talk) 16:24, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@105.159.16.191: no Declined. First create Draft:Jack Ninte through WP:AFC. At that point it does not need a working external link. It needs however independent reliable sources.
