youtu.be/5C_zzD1pOAg[edit]

Please whitelist this video. I tried to put it as an external link to the article on Kaplan-Meier estimators.

It is a video of a Kaplan-Meier curve evolving with time. When explaining complicated mathematics, a picture or video often communicates the concept much more quickly than a maze of formulas.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.45.80.41 (talkcontribs)

Not done. "Youtu.be" is a URL shortener. Just use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C_zzD1pOAg and it should work. Kuru (talk) 17:35, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vidme[edit]

After the "Adpocalypse" going on at YouTube, I've seen a few creators defecting to different outlets, particularly Vidme, so I thought it'd be fair to have an article. The link is meant to be an actual website (particularly a video-hosting service). JWthaMajestic (talk) 06:48, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@JWthaMajestic: per /Common requests#About, we would need an about-page or a full url (including an index.htm) of the index page. Can you please provide a suitable link? --Dirk Beetstra T C 07:12, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Beetstra: Here is an about page: vid.me/about Is this okay? JWthaMajestic (talk) 12:23, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is fine:

ehow.co.uk[edit]

This is not a spam site. Don't abuse the spam filter to block things for editorial reasons.

I tried to use www.ehow.co.uk/info_8578303_difference-between-hand-axe-hatchet.html as a reference for https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hatchet&diff=780416049&oldid=778045078 24.44.23.238 (talk) 23:39, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

no Declined. Ehow is a self-publishing content farm, which provides incentives to authors to promote their material. The links have been abused many times before. Additionally, that is not in any way a reliable source. I don't see any reason to whitelist it. Kuru (talk) 02:06, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

infosecinstitute.com[edit]

Hi there Wikipedia enthusiasts :)

The Wikipedia page that you want to use the link on.

InfoSec Institute

An explanation why it would be useful to the encyclopedia article proper.

I suggest to whitelist infosecinstitute.com Because it seems to be a reputable U.S. based organization, doing IT and information security training. Read more on that Wikipedia article. Also that domain name was repeatedly used as a source by well known notable mass medias, including Bloomberg News, Washington Post, Better Business Bureau (BBB), POLITICO, VICE News. Sources are in that Wikipedia article.

Wikipedia admin Dirk Beetstra suggested to me to defer to this whitelist for the cases that are really needed related to infosecinstitute.com

I would like to update that Wikipedia article infobox by adding the clickable "Website" infosecinstitute.com instead of the present text only version

According to that blacklist logs, that domain name was abuse for spam a long time ago in 2008. A total of 6 abuses over a 9 year period. Also, as of today, most of those abusive users seem to no longer be active on Wikipedia. That's 4 out of 6 users total. Still according to the log, there was little or no spam abuse since 2008.

For those interested in my motivation, I'm a volunteer Wikipedia contributor and I do not benefit in any way from the InfoSec Institute. Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else. With infinite Wikipedia love ♥, Francewhoa (talk) 05:27, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated the request to the /company page, that is equal to their 'about us' (see /Common requests for explanation). --Dirk Beetstra T C 06:48, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Francewhoa: plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. Note that infosecinstitute.com will not work, only infosecinstitute.com/company. --Dirk Beetstra T C 06:49, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Beetstra:) Sounds great. I'll try that. I learned something new about the Common requests exception with neutral landing page like that "about" page. Francewhoa (talk) 08:44, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

BMI[edit]

I'm not convinced that BMI Healthcare, a reputable company should be blacklisted anyway; but I wish to cite the above page on John Jaffray, regarding that subject's achievements. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:04, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Pigsonthewing: plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. This was spammed by some socks out of a massive sockfarm. Seeing the edits they were desperately looking for places to spam this, along with many other sites of companies. My guess is SEO work. Companies/organisations may be reputable, they still use SEO techniques. --Dirk Beetstra T C 20:32, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A math video[edit]

Please whitelist the updated video https://youtube.com/h73Y4724fp which I'm trying to add to the article on the Kaplan-Meier Estimator.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video more so when trying to convey mathematical concepts.

108.45.80.41 (talk) 22:06, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. As noted above, this link is not blacklisted. Looking at your history, you seem to have added it to the article. Kuru (talk) 01:37, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon the belated intrusion, for the both of you, FYI: requestor needed guidance, an answer like "your link is corrupt/wrong" vs "NotDone".
Quick visual inspection reveals link requested (above) is an invalid format (missing standard code "/watch?v=") and of course yields 404 when attempted as is.
However, your rebuttal that there already was a linked YouTube video, using a different ID, assumed (?) the requestor used an alternative, when they may have been intending a 2nd video.
And yes, the requested link ID (above) matches the only other video uploaded to that YouTube account. WhoWatchesTheWatchers 18:39, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

JustJared.com and AHS S7[edit]

Hey! JustJared.com is blacklisted but they published an article with set pics of AHS S7. These pics are confirming the return of a series cast member Adina Porter. Can we allow it please? Just for this page, of course. Like that we don't have to use tweets showing the pics ^^ justjared.com/2017/05/26/american-horror-story-set-photos-evan-peters-sports-blue-hair-bruises-for-season-7/ Lady Junky (talk) 22:25, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Now, a second actor is confirmed to come back via set pictures from this website. justjared*com/2017/05/27/cheyenne-jackson-confirmed-for-ahs-season-7-spotted-filming-on-set-photos/ Can we do something please? Lady Junky (talk) 00:02, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Lady Junky: The site was blacklisted as a gossip site that was generally unreliable. The language used and the way this is does not convince me either ('looks like'). It gets close to original research on their behalf. --Dirk Beetstra T C 03:36, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Beetstra:, the question is not so much the text itself, but the set pics they are showing. They are the original source, and whatever they are writing, these pics are facts and taken from the set of AHS S7. Pics are the proofs, not the text :/ Lady Junky (talk) 06:38, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Lady Junky: Now, then it becomes even more original research. If I appear on those pictures on the set, does that mean that I am a confirmed cast member? --Dirk Beetstra T C 07:01, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This page, which is now archived on archive.org was used as a source citation on Portal:Trains/Anniversaries/September 29/More. I would like to add the archiveurl to the citation to keep things up to date. A quick search for the reference article title shows one copy/paste reprint at armeniandiaspora.com and another archive copy at archive.li. I have not seen a suitable replacement source for this citation yet. Slambo (Speak) 12:36, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone confirm whether the concerns voiced at the blacklisting discussion, MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist/archives/March_2009#iranmania.com, are still valid? @JzG:. --Dirk Beetstra T C 13:20, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Aceshowbiz dot com[edit]

I'm currently sourcing the Eliza Bennett article (specifically the awards section) and the only cite that I can for this award is Aceshowbiz so was wondering if the site or just this page could be whitelisted please?, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 22:53, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried using the templates and am still met with the blacklist so I've simply removed them and added dot instead, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 22:53, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe just use IMDB? Not the best source in the world, but at least its directly about the award (and mentions ms. bennett explicitly). Kuru (talk) 23:36, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Problem is anyone can easily remove it citing "not a reliable source", IMDb isn't considered a reliable source whereas with this source there wouldn't be any issues, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 01:12, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, not much an IMDB fan myself. Maybe just use a 2007 archive of the primary source? My last less-than-helpful suggestion before just adding it to the whitelist. Kuru (talk) 02:09, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kuru, Ah I didn't think archive would work ?, I thought the system still would've picked up on the link and thus still disallowed me from adding it?, Anyway thanks for your help,
Thanks Beetstra very much appreciated :), Thanks all, –Davey2010Talk 12:21, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

LiveJasmin[edit]

I've removed what I'm quite sure to be a profiteering link from listing of 'official website' in the LiveJasmin page, but cannot put the real one in due to the blacklist. While I certainly understand why that domain is blacklisted, if *any* page is to have a link to this domain, it's own page would probably be it. Osndok (talk) 15:15, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There a section a week or so ago to add an about page that I thought was approved. MediaWiki_talk:Spam-whitelist#LiveJasmin_media.2Fabout_us_page I think that url should work. Ravensfire (talk) 16:36, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Osndok: Forgot the ping ...Ravensfire (talk) 16:38, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Osndok: The other page was a deeper link for a reference, maybe they have a dedicated /about page? Post that link here without the http://, then we will handle the rest. --Dirk Beetstra T C 03:11, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. I have updated the url. Thanks. --Osndok (talk) 18:53, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ezinearticles[edit]

I would like to add a citation to covert incest from ezinearticles. The topic of the page has little mainstream attention (i.e. nothing from the APA) but a lot of popular press and walled-garden style citations in popular books. This is one of the few citations I could find that made some rather common-sense criticisms of the concept. WLU (t) (c) Wikipedia's rules:simple/complex 14:30, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

docs.onion.io[edit]

This one is blocked because global blacklist for "docs.onion" exists, which designates to some site behind TOR network. But the website docs.onion.io and it's parent onion.io are not on the TOR network, it's a home website for computing hardware Omega2. This website contains technical specs of the hardware which I would like to refer to on the article. Please whitelist this. NStorm (talk) 05:58, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
