It was written by Dan Wilson and Rosaileen Scher, and produced by Wilson with additional production by Sara Mulford. "Love Again" was released as a promotional single on 13 April 2023. It received positive reviews from music critics and entered the sales charts, reaching numbers two in Quebec, ten in Canada and 86 in the United Kingdom. "Love Again" also peaked at number two on the airplay chart in Quebec.

Background and release[edit]

After releasing Courage in 2019 and embarking on the Courage World Tour, Dion joined the cast of the American romantic comedy-drama film directed by James C. Strouse, Love Again.[1] Principal photography began in October 2020 and ended in early 2021.[2] On 13 April 2023, Dion released "Love Again", her first new music in four years and since she revealed in December 2022 that she has been struggling with stiff-person syndrome.[3] The song was written by Dan Wilson and Rosaileen Scher (known by her stage name Rosie), and produced by Wilson with additional production by Sara Mulford.[4] In 2019, Wilson also co-wrote and co-produced "Lovers Never Die", which was recorded by Dion for her previous album, Courage.[5] The Love Again soundtrack with 11 songs by Dion, including five new tracks, was released on 12 May 2023.[4]

Critical reception[edit]

Gil Kaufman from Billboard described "Love Again" as a moving ballad and a gentle piano and acoustic guitar track in which Dion softly sings emotional lyrics: "Cuz you don't have to move a mountain, just keep moving/ Every move is a new emotion/ And you don't have to find the answers, just keep trying/ The sun will rise again/ The storms subside again/ This is not the end/ And you will love again."[6] Nardine Saad from Los Angeles Times called it a sweet piano ballad about overcoming the grief of losing a loved one.[7]

Commercial performance[edit]

"Love Again" debuted and peaked at number two on both charts in Quebec: Top Sales Songs[8] and Top Radio Songs.[9] It also reached number 10 on the Canadian Digital Song Sales chart.[10] In the United Kingdom, "Love Again" peaked at number 86 on the Singles Downloads Chart.[11]
