The live streaming social platform Kick launched in 2022 as an alternative digital entertainment site. It is operated by Kick Streaming Pty Ltd and backed by Stake.com and co-founders Bijan Tehrani, Ed Craven, and streaming personality Trainwreckstv. While still in beta,[2] Kick was explicitly designed as rival to Amazon-owned Twitch, with a focus on loose moderation and higher revenue shares for streamers.[3][4][5] Kick is mainly known for its low 5% revenue charge, as well as its 2023 deals with multiple streamers including Hikaru Nakamura, Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, Nickmercs, Adin Ross, Amouranth, Ice Poseidon, and xQc.[6][3][7]
As of June 2023, Kick averages 235,000 live streams per day.[6] As of March 2024[update], the most-followed channel belongs to Adin Ross with over 1 million followers. The female streamer with the most followers on her channel is Amouranth.
The countries with the most Kick users as of September 2024 were the United States (40.9 million), Turkey (20.6 million), Argentina (17.6 million), Saudi Arabia (9.8 million), and Peru (8.8 million). The United States accounts for 17.65 % of all Kick users.[8]
