Karstenia is an international, peer-reviewed open access research journal covering all aspects of fungal research, with a focus on systematics and ecology, published by the Finnish Mycological Society.[2][3] Each volume consists of 2 issues being published in June and December with occasional supplementals also published.[4] Karstenia offers full open access without Article Processing Charges and has PDF archives of all historical issues.[5] Publication began in 1950 with varying frequency until 1976 when it switched to publishing two issues a year.[6]

Karstenia is named after the Finnish Mycologist Petter Adolf Karsten.[4]
