Imran Muhammad Akhoond is a Pakistani guitarist and session musician. He is best-known as the lead guitarist (1998 to present) in the band of Pakistani pop/rock singer Shehzad Roy.[1] He has performed with various other bands, including Junaid Jamshed, Strings and Vital Signs.[1]

Imran Akhoond is played house member of Coke Studio Pakistan (Season 7,8,9,10) produced by Strings. In 2013 he became the only guitarist from Pakistan to perform with American hard Rock band Guns N' Roses team includes Guitarist Slash and drummer Matt Sorum at Los Angeles USA for a Charitable cause.[2] 2018 worked for shahi hasan teams as mentor for Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 3 Currently working with Shahi Hasan ( Vital Signs ) Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 4 as Mentor

Early life[edit]

Imran Akhoond was born in Karachi. He is a self-taught guitarist.

Music career[edit]

Akhoond entered the music business in 1990 as the guitarist in the live backing band of Junaid Jamshed, who he met through Nadeem Jafri. He also performed with Awaz.[1]

Akhoond became a permanent member of Shehzad Roy's band in 1998, having met him while on tour with Awaz.[1]

Akhoond released his debut solo single "Madhur" in 2012, and his second single "Inside Love" in 2015.[3]

Television work[edit]

Akhoond was the guitarist in the house band on the music show Coke Studio, from season 7 until 10 (2014-2017),[4] which were produced by Strings.[5]


Influences[edit]

Akhoond is a fan of Bryan Adams,[3] and cites as his guitar influences Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Eric Johnson and Larry Carlton.[6]

Personal life[edit]

Akhoond performed Hajj, along with Shehzad Roy, in July 2006.[7]
