Hetaerina titia, the smoky rubyspot, is a species of broad-winged damselfly in the family Calopterygidae. It is found in Central America and North America.[2][3][1][4]
The IUCN conservation status of Hetaerina titia is "LC", least concern, with no immediate threat to the species' survival. The population is stable. The IUCN status was reviewed in 2018.[1][5][6]
Description
[edit]A large damselfly, varying from 1.5 to 2.0 inches for both genders. The male is black-reddish. The abdomen is black. The black wings have large red spots near the body. The coloration of the wings varies from nearly clear to smoky black. The female is more greenish than the male. The abdomen varies from green to dark brown. The wings also may have tiny white stigmas (near tips of wings). [7]
