Gauntlett Eldemire III (born 28 February 1989) is a Cleveland-based former minor league baseball player and managing partner of Cleveland Laundry Services with locations in multiple states.

Early life and education[edit]

Gauntlett Eldemire III was born on 28 February 1989 in Shaker Heights, OH.[1] From kindergarten until high school graduation, he acquired his early schooling at University School in Shaker Heights and Hunting Valley, where he played soccer, basketball and baseball. Gauntlett is one of the three children born to Marlene and Gauntlett Eldemire Jr. As a senior at University School, Eldemire III hit a .454 batting average with a triple, eight walks, and 6 RBIs.[2]

Eldemire III started his college career at Ohio University in the fall of 2007. In 2009, Eldemire III was recognized MAC East Player of the Week after batting .429 versus Central Michigan with 11 RBI and six runs scored.[3][4] As a sophomore in 2009, Eldemire III amassed a batting line of .313/.443/.682 with 21 home runs, 56 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases.

In 2009, Eldemire III was named First Team All-Region and All-American by The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).[5] In the summer of 2009, Eldemire was invited to play for the USA National Olympic Baseball Team (Team USA). He played two weeks until suffering a stress fracture in his tibia, which led to him taking the summer off. Gauntlett was 2010 All-Mid-American Conference First Team selection, finished first in the MAC league in on-base percentage (.496), second in slugging percentage (.726), third in batting average (.398), fourth in home runs (16), sixth in total bases (146) and tied for sixth in stolen bases (16).[6] During the first week of May 2010, he hit .700 with one double, seven homers, 11 RBIs and 36 total bases. He slugged 1.800, had an on-base percentage of .769, and had 14 clean chances in the field.[7] In the game against Buffalo, he went 5-for-5 with three homers, four runs scored, and six RBIs. His 15 total bases in that contest are recognized as the fifth-highest total in league history.[8]

Eldemire was named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball in addition to being named MAC East Player of the Week.[3][4][6] Eldemire is currently in the Top Five in the school career record book in home runs (third, 44), stolen bases (third, 37) and runs (fifth, 156). The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) granted him second-team all-region acclaim.[9][10]

Philadelphia Phillies[edit]

While at Ohio University, Eldemire III was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 6th round, 201st overall of the 2010 MLB Draft.[11] He led the league in on-base percentage (.487), slugging percentage (.714), home runs (15), batting average (.391), stolen bases (16), and tied for sixth in stolen bases (137).[12][6][7] He was recognized as a Star Outfielder and played with the Lakewood Blue Claws of the Philadelphia Phillies, where he played in 72 games, hitting .227 with 53 hits, 13 doubles, and two home runs.[13][14][15] He ranked second in the South Atlantic League with nine stolen bases in 11 attempts.[13][16]

In 2013, Eldemire III founded GSE Laundry and Cleveland Laundry Services, a coin-operated laundry and cleaning business based in Ohio with a location in Florida. [citation needed]
