Germany

I do know of some sources that state Germany allows full joint adoption for SSCs. France still does not provide SSCs with full joint adoption. SSCs means same sex couples.

Norway

From 1 January 2009, SSCs in Norway will be provided with fully and legally joint adoption, IVF, surrogacy and marriage.

England

When did England provide SSCs full joint access to adoption?

What is the situation in Denmark - regarding adoption policys, surrogacy and IVF for SSCs?

In England single women and lesbians can have full access to surrogacy and IVF - and even have the female "civil partner" child listed on the birth certificate as "parent".

Not so fast. Had you read your source #2, you would find that the government is obliged to propose a bill allowing for full joint adoption. This bill hasn't been proposed, and in the meantime members could change their minds, leave Parliament and so on. The government has to propose the law - and has mentioned it in its law catalogue for 2009-2010, but it's not proposed yet, and so it's not effective. --87.52.28.248 (talk) 14:12, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland

I don't think it's necessary to colour them red, since grey colouring already suggests that same-sex adoption is not legal. A ban on same-sex adoption and not allowing same-sex adoption are practically the same thing. What the map does not reflect is where single gay people can adopt and where they cannot. In some countries, such as Latvia, Lithuania and Italy (but not Poland), only married couples can adopt. This excludes all single and unmarried people, be they gay or straight, from adopting. This situation is different to most countries in Europe, where, while same-sex couples cannot jointly adopt, single people (of any sexual orientation) are permitted to adopt. Gay adoption illegal

If we intend on using the gay adoption legal color (red), I think we should apply it, starting with Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, and Italy. As stated above, I'm sure we need the color, but if so, perhaps it could be changed to "Law confirmedly restricts adoption to married couples" and keep gray how it is. Hmm, I think it's unnecessary to add a new category of "Gay adoption illegal". Again, like in the case of same-sex marriage, there isn't really a practical difference between countries which restrict adoption to (heterosexual) married couples and those which explicitly have statutes stating that same-sex couples cannot adopt. Nor is there a difference between the aforementioned situation, and those countries where all straight couples (including unmarried ones) and all single people can adopt, but same-sex couple are prevented from jointly adopting. In all cases, same-sex couples, which are the focus of this map, cannot adopt. Ronline ✉ 09:55, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

France

I think France should be switched back to grey. According to LGBT adoption, court decisions on step-child adoption have not been consistent in France. Furthermore, there is no explicit statute which authorises same-sex adoption (as in Finland or Germany). Ronline ✉ 09:59, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

I agree with you, reading this you can see that step-child adoption isn't allowed, it took ten years for the mother's partner to adopt that child, and with a judicial battle. Single gay people allowed to adopt

Maybe we could update the maps to show where single gay people may adopt I know Ireland allows it and many other countries I am sure do also Rctycoplay (talk) 23:45, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Northern Ireland

As far as I am aware, although England (Dec 2005), Wales (Dec 2005) and Scotland (Sep 2009) allow joint SSC to adopt, Northern Ireland (unlike the rest of the UK, but like the Republic of Ireland) do not, and yet the map suggests that it does. Jersey

Jersey (One of the Channel Islands) how has civil partnerships since 1 January 2012. Adoption of children is included - but not marriage (just like the UK). Slovenia

As far as I know, Slovenia doesn't allow step child adoption. That proposal was rejected on the referendum in 2012. Map should be corrected. --Emir234 (talk) 12:28, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
