Purpose of use

To illustrate a poignant scene in the episode (infobox): the Peacocks burying their child alive. Due to the graphic nature of the scene in question, "Home" became the first of two X-Files episodes to receive a viewer discretion warning. The violent content of the episode is discussed in great detail, and a visual to illustrate one of the most disturbing moments of the episode is needed. The shot was also discussed by director Kim Manners in the article.
