Summary

Description
English: The linear magnetohydrodynamic waves consist of the shear Alfvén wave and the fast and slow magnetosonic waves. Their phase velocities depend on their propagation angle relative to the magnetic field which can be represented using a polar diagram. Relevant quantities include the Alfvén speed , sound speed , and the magnetosonic speed .
