«Yendo a la casa de Damián» (English: Going to Damián's House) is the first single of the studio album Raro by the Uruguayan band El Cuarteto de Nos.[1]
Inspiration[edit]
According to Roberto Musso, during the creation of the album Raro, the band's vocalist, seeing that his pet was hungry, decided to go to a nearby store, which took him approximately 2 hours, during which people recognized and stopped him, blocking him. Upon arriving to the store he searched for food for his pet, but was detained by someone discussing which pet food is best, which took him a great deal of time. Returning to his house, he reflected on what had happened, and he thought it would be a good idea to use his experience as a concept for a new single, which tells a ficticious story about a person, the identity of whom does not matter, going to the house of someone whose identity does also not matter. In the creation of the music video of the song, the way Roberto walked would be used as inspiration for the rhythm.
In thinking of a name for the song, Musso based the title off of the book Demian by the German writer Hermann Hesse, which is about the journey between adolescence and adulthood. The name of the book was hispanicized from Demian to Damián.[2]
As of February 2024, Yendo a la casa de Damián is one of the most popular songs in the album Raro,[3] which was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards in the category best rock song.
