Manoj Kumar Goswami (Assamese: মনোজ কুমাৰ গোস্বামী; born 1962, Nagaon, Assam, India) is a journalist, writer from Assam, India.[3][4] Goswami won Sahitya Akademi Award winners for Assamese in 2022 for Short stories Bhool Satya. He also won Katha award for his book Samiran Barua Ahi Ase.

Professional Summary[edit]

A noted author and broadcast journalist based in Assam state in Northeastern India. Currently Manoj Kumar Goswami is the Chief Editor of the distinguished Assamese daily Amor Asom of G.L. Publications Ltd. which also publish Purvanchal Prahari (Hindi), The Meghalaya Guardian (English) and The North East Times (English) daily News Papers. Also Editor-in-Chief of leading satellite news channel NKTV 24x7. He was also the editor-in-chief of satellite channel DY365. Experience writing and reporting across a variety of platforms, including print, television, and online social media. Goswami published a series of short story collections, including Iswarhinata, Swadhinata, Samiran Barua Ahi Ase, Premhinata and Aluminumor Anguli as well as a single novel: Anadi Aru Annyana. Goswami's literary career was recognized with the Katha Award for Creative Fiction in 1994, and the Sanskriti Award for Literature in 1996. His works have been translated to other Indian languages and also to English by publications like Penguin. Eminent writer late Khushwant Singh included Manoj Kumar Goswami's short story 'The Vulture' in his collection 'Our Favourite Indian Stories (2002). Goswami's debut appearance in the Assamese literary world as a short fiction writer in the 1980s made thousands of native readers enthusiastic for his powerful portrayal of the individual psyche and conflicting social reality of the Brahmaputra valley. His stories often compel the readers to take a fresh look at the issues where a naive consensus often lulls their critical gaze. Goswami has eleven collections of short stories in Assamese language e.g. Ishwarhinata, Samiran Baruah Ahi Ase, Swadhinata, Moi Rajen Baruahk Samarthan Koru, Panchjon Bondhu, Premhinata, Jibon.com, Prithibir Shesh Station, Virus Aru Annanya including acclaimed collection Bhul Satya and Aluminiumor Anguli. He has also penned a travelogue Volta Ekhan Nadir Nam and also a novel titled Anadi Aru Anyanya apart from numerous essays. Goswami has six English and one Bengali short stories to his credit e.g. Our Favourite Indian Short Stories (Edited by Kushwant Singh), A Game of Chess(Penguin Books), Writings from North East India(Oxford), Pranchi( Sahitya Akademy), As the River Flows(Harper Perennial), The Final Hour(Translated by Dipika Phukan) in English and Manoj Kumar Goswamier Asamiya Chotogalpo(Published by Britter Baire, Kolkata) in Bengali. A student of science, Manoj Kumar Goswami choose journalism as his profession and now is a leading name in Electronic and Print media of the region. He was born in 24/07/1962 and lives in Guwahati with his family. He has two sons called Anwit and Prannit. Legendary writer and one of the greatest story teller of all time Ruskin Bond launched Manoj Kr Goswami's short stories collection Muppet and other stories ( published by The Alcove Publishers) at Mussoorie in November 2022 He has also visited as many as 40 countries with Prime Minister of India as a member of his accompanying media team. He is also associated with Movement against Nuclear & Hydrogen bomb, Japan and visited the country several times to attend conferences at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Journalistic Career[edit]

To start his journalistic career Goswami joined Assamese daily newspaper Natun Dainik in 1986 under the editorship of Chandra Prasad Saikia and later became editor and executive editor of newspapers such as Ajir Batori, Amar Asom and Janasadharan. He also contributed as a columnist in Asomiya Pratidin and worked as the editor-in-chief of DY365, a satellite television Currently Manoj Kumar Goswami is the Chief Editor of the distinguished Assamese daily Amor Asom and also Editor-in-Chief of leading satellite news channel NKTV 24x7. This is probably a rare feat leading both a newspaper and an electronic news channel of different media house at the same time. Recently Goswami made headlines when he denied to receive the Sahitya Sanman Awarded by Assam Sahitya Sabha for his writings. Goswami was trained in USA on Media's Role in Conflict Resolution. He also did a media course with RT, the Russian Television Network in Moscow. Goswami's highly acclaimed documentary Anshu-Everest calling was shown in various international film festivals. Based on his short stories many award-winning movies are made in last couple of years.

Manoj Kumar Goswami was also one of the team member during the VISIT OF PRIME MINISTER DR. MANMOHAN SINGH TO SOUTH AFRICA when he was working as the EDITOR at 'DAINIK JANASADHARAN'- Assamese News Paper.
