Khayyan[1]is a small village in tehsil Phalia of district Mandi bahaudin in the Punjab province of Pakistan.It is 150 Km away from Lahore and 180 km away from Islamabad. It is located with an altitude of 220 metres above from sea level[2]. It has population of 3000[3] people. Majority of its population is engaged with agriculture. The main crops are Sugercane , rice , wheat , corn and Pearl millet.

Caste[edit]

Majority of its population is Jutt and the biggest clan is Warraich. It also has other castes like syeds , kumhars , Nai and Mochi.The main languages is Punjabi and urdu.

Culture and Faith[edit]

Khayyan is predominantly Muslim, with all of its residents following the Islamic faith. The village has four mosques where people gather for prayers and religious ceremonies. The residents of Khayyan predominantly identify with the Barelvi tradition of Islam. However, there is also a notable presence of Shia and Deobandi. historically people here are connected to Punjabi Culture. They have embraced it and feel proud to follow it. We see this culture in their clothes , food and language.

This village is located near Gujrat Sargodha road. The nearest train station is Gujrat (32km) and the nearest air port is Sialkot international airport (75 km).
