James Kendis (1883-1946)? was an American composer and music publisher. He co-authored the hit songs "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" and "If I Had My Way".[1]

His songs were in Broadway shows.[2][3] His songs also appeared in films.[4]

He died at his home in Jamaica, Queens.[1]

"If I Had My Way" was performed by various artists including Ethel Green,[5] Lillian Fairfax[6] Peerless Quartet, Bunny Berigan, Glen Gray, and Bing Crosby and Glorida Jean in the 1940 film named for it as well as the 1946 film Sunbonnet Sue.[7]

He worked with James Brockman.
