Danilo Jude Bardisa Kelly (Manhattan, New York City, 8 of mayo de 1990), is an american martial artist and entrepeneur who competes in Kenpo, in the fighting categories, or kumite. He has been the first westerner to become world champion of Kenpo Kai in Japan since 1990 and has obtained several medals in world class competitions.

Trajectory[edit]

Although born in Nueva York, his family moved to Spain when he was nine. He has already began to practice Kenpo in a club in South Miami and continued practicing martial arts in Spain.[1] He explored other martial arts like Goshindo and Taekwondo eventually going back to practicing Kenpo.

Danilo started competing in 2009 and by 2010 he had already become the Spanish National Champion in Granada in 2010. He continued achieving top marks in several universitary competitions representing his alma mater Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, as well as other european championships. He finally qualified to represent Spain in his first World Championship in Caracas, Venezuela, in 2011.

Most notable competitions[edit]

Between 2018 and 2019 he won several silver medals in different International and World competitions always being inches away from obtaining first place. Finally in 2019, during the World Kenpo Kai Championship in Hammamatsu, Japan after two years of preparation, Danilo swept round after round in the open weight class category of Full Contact, where the winner is decided by KO, TKO or submission.
